Summon Holy Steed and Squire
Do you think Paladins in V:SoH should have an ability similar to the ones in eq2, wherein they are able to summon their very own steed? (in eq2 it was a level 20 'fun' spell) Also, should it just be for looks, or have some functionality to it?
What about a Squire sidekick? What would a Squire sidekick do exactly? Should they be just for show(roleplay purposes)? Or do they help fight/buff/heal? Or are these things too EQ2-esque, and threefore not really suited to V:SoH? |

Probably a little too much reference to EQ2.
However, I would not say that it is totally invalidated. I remember everyone being very jealous of the Pallies and Shadowknights in EQ2, because quite frankly, they definately had the best level 20 "fun spell." Nobody at that time when the first level 20's were running around had enough money to buy an actual mount. It would definately be a huge perk if they were allowed something similar. We will see. |

If it takes a similar amount of cash or supplies for a quest or something vs, for example, a ranger buying one for 10,000 gold, thats fine. Although I'd rather have them buy their mount just like every other class...
Sidekick... dunno. However, Sigil did say most of the classes would have some type of summon/NPC with them. (I'm sure I read that somewhere, just cant remember where...) |

I've always thought it would be neat to have a squire. I always figured he would just be a lower level version of a Pally himself and be very passive as well as have the ability to be a "packhorse" of types. However you do this and then everyone starts screaming about how they should have squires too

With as integral and common as a horse will be in Vangaurd I think it would be less of a status symbol if a pally simply summoned a mount. It would be cool if pallys had access to speical mounts or armor for their mount. Maybe only those of the order can buy mounts from the pally guild. Or maybe pally's can bless their normal mounts to make them extra special. In the end everyones going to own a horse, if you want a pally horse to be special then do something out of the ordinary with with it.

Summon squire (or perhaps a cool looking minion of your god of choice)? Yes, please!
Summon horse? Nay, as people have said, steeds will be prevalent in VG as is. In my opinion the summon horse in EQ2 was much more of a utility spell than just a "fun" spell . Very unbalancing and not fun for the other classes. As for the make-your-ridee-unique-or-class-oriented: I'd like to see pally only crafted/looted items do that. Or maybe a hard to get, class-specific, high level spell, that you can cast on yer trusty horse.

I love the idea of a squire. Though a Paladin should not have access to his squire until at least level 40 (the Paladin must have enough victories under his/her belt to warrent the attentions of royalty and therefore have a squire "assigned" to him for training).....training, this could be a cool option for the squire, every 5 levels the Paladin has the option to return to the "major city" (no villages or hamlets allowed) and train his squire in either a utility skill (i.e armor buff or heal or whatever) or the squire could train in an offensive type skill (weapon throwing or something that doesn't run the risk of generating aggro BUT could generate aggro)......
I also like the idea of each class having the ability to "summon" a pet. Pets for everyone!!! |

Maybe allow the paladins to have an epic type quest to get a trully unique mount. This mount will be unique in that :
a) has more customizable gear, particullary paladin only i.e symbols of their dieties etc. b) when mounted combat gets in game it should offer some sort of dmg advantage being that paladins are knights and should have better mastery over mounted combat. I also believe Dread KNIGHTS should also have a similar quest but make their mount gear more fearsome i.e Skull symbols, spikes, horns etc. |
