Light vs. Medium Armor for Monks/Disciples

Besides the increase in weight are there any other downsides to using medium armor as a monk or disciple?

I actually don't think there are any downsides to using medium for monks and disciples. There don't seem to be any weight effects that I am aware of. Both are melee oriented and can benefit from the extra mitigation.

Monks especially benefit more from the magical effects usually found on medium and (using the Tanvu starting quests as an example), we see wisdom and healing focus on medium as well.

In everquest monks were punished for going over X amount of weight.

Alot of players probably still believe this true.

As a DSC, I can only say, BM/CLR/SHM tank better then I do at the same lvl. I have no idea why.

What level are you? Clerics probably should be a superior tank, as for shaman if hes Tuurgin then thats a given too.

As for BMG they can only spam despoil/heal so much until they run out of mana, unless they are super twinked.

Re: Light vs. Medium Armor for Monks/Disciples

As a BM, we just can't tank better than you. We do drain life constantly, so we lose health and gain it back right quick. Now in our Damage stance, we have horrible mit. In our Healing stance we have better mit, but we wouldnt bother draining (1/2 damage). So you would have to be seeing the BM in damage stance and draining to think we even compared to you in tanking.
And really we dont. We cant. By a long shot.
Compared to Clerics and Shaman, I dont know. I would hope that with evasion you would be a much better tank than either (except maybe equal to a Bear Shaman), but then Id hope youd have at least somewhat better DPS.
