The Change Over
Hello, I am not sure how everything is working out yet, but here goes. I finally did the unthinkable. After years of Everquest, I finally kicked the game. Yes I deleted my accounts. Enough of that.
I have decided that Vanguard will be my rpg of choice...given the history of the team thats building it. Fond memories of the kick but lore have obviously spilled over into the newest sensation in rpg life. I have decided to give up 6 years of another game to delve into one of much more if not comparable detail. After reading the forums and looking at the game in detail I have finally picked a rpg worthy of spending all game play time on. that meant I had to ditch everything I have known. I know I know blah blah blah, (roleplayer here) I am hoping I can swing getting picked for beta but not sure how far behind the power curve I am. A few questions I suppose and with more looking I am sure I will find the answers. Anyhow, it is a pleasure to finally place myself in a new home for what seems like is going to be the next wave of rpg. I look forward to seeing all of you on the playing field. |

We've all done that at one time or another. Said we kicked the habit, deleted the accounts. Told ourselves no more, this is the lasttime I log in, but we were wrong. The force of the game calls at you. You can hear teh music in your dreams. You see it everywhere you look. Even as you wait in line at the fast food joint you can only think of one thing.
While I eagerly await VG, and will rejoice as I install it, I know, even then I won't be removing EQ from my HD. I learned long ago I was a weak willed individual. I may leave for long periods of time, but I always return. Two months in SWG, 30 in EQ2, 14 days of free DAOC, anotehr 10 of HZ, but always back to EQ. I congratulate you on your finding VG and welcoming it's coming, but I doubt you will last til it is released before the hunger takes hold in you. The hunger.............. THE HUNGER !!!!!! |

Its definately gotten to that point. Ever since Phase 4 beta of Everquest - I've been playing MMOs and totally unable to kick that habit. Tried a lot of different games in that time - but Everquest was probably the best for me because it was new, unique, and challenging.
Trouble is - with a lot of the games out there, challenge is kinda going out the window. After spending a good while in EQ2 (after SWG, AO, DAOC, CoH, etc etc) I made the switch to WoW - which is like MMO light. All I want is a game that challenges again. New worlds. Interesting content. |

I have erupted out of a less... time-consuming world. I play everquest only when a handful of my... "closet" decide to hop on for a few minutes. I play guild wars every once in a while and have put a nice chip of time into that. I've played demoes of just about every game, but i still come to think that Vanguard: SoH will beat it hands down. The reviews, articles, forums, suggestions, everything looks hardcore godly. The monthly fee is the ONLY thing that will keep ANYONE from playing this. People dont like monthly fees, but a gaming as stunning and rich as this deserves the income. (I played WoW as well...got boring)
WoW beater? It'll be close. All up to the critics, to be honest. |
