DVI vs Analog

I have a nice 22 inch LCD display and am trying to decide which interface to use for best performance. One of the people I was chatting with in game said that the DVI interface loaded the video card down (more memory use or something) than the analog interface, but this doesn't make sense to me.

I know that the digital interface should give better visuals, but which is better for performance (NVidia 6800)?

I believe DVI is better for the LCD panels because they are digital signals

VGA would be better for the CRT (like my old beast) because it uses analog signals


if you use the DVI to VGA converter for your monitor, you're converting the signal to analog, and then back to digital to your LCD.......best to eliminate this process, and go straight through with DVI

Well, I can tell you that I've never heard that in my life. There is no difference (performance-wise) between running mine with DVI vs. Analog.

I will be honest, though, and say I don't notice a picture difference between the two either. An LCD connected to the VGA port looks the same as one connected to the DVI port (to me).

Yes, I was having trouble with that idea as well. I will stick with the DVI cable.
