Crash to char select on first login

I get a really strange bug.
When i login to Vanguard it takes maybe five minutes to load the game.
I pick my character then it starts loading that character into the world.
Immediately i get dumped to character select.

The odd part is there's the create an avatar PC standing in front of my character facing sideways.

Afterwards i can get in just fine but whenever i choose an action it locks up for 10 to 30 seconds or so until i've gone through every action there is.

Not sure what is causing the problem.

Hmm. The first thing I'd try would be to delete the "Caches" folder in your Sony/Vanguard/Bin folder. That sometimes clears up strange crash-type issues.
