Memory leak?
If you have a RAM usage monitor you can access while playing, keep an eye on it.....i have noticed, as have several guild members, that your usage slowly creeps up and up until you get a CTD. I am sure this is indicative of memeory not being freed up by the game. If you want to see it accelerated , try a trip to New Tugglywuggles or whatever that damn big city to the south of Tursh is called. Run round the back streets and see your 2 Gig scream, then melt.....

Re: Memory leak?
Use /flush more, it helps. Esepecially when you chunk. Could well be a memory leak in the game but there's a huge amount of art assets being loaded at any given time, and a huge amount of geometry. Setting cache size in the sysconfig.ini can help with this also.

Re: Memory leak?
I've alt-tabbed when the game starts getting 'choppy' after a couple hours of play.
Last night it was at 1,336,9xx bytes. I have 2GB RAM. Eventually it causes a CTD. I flush when I feel there is a reason to, usually artifacts or black textures. I will try out some weekend day (when I play long time) by doing /flush every 30 mins or so and see if it prevents the inevitable (seemingly) CTD. Smells like time to do at least Valgrind on it OK... that would prob make it run so slow and require 40gb RAM to test on something this size but still ... hope they find it soon.

Re: Memory leak?
There is quite a lot of discussion concerning the 'Memory leak' on the tech forums:
http://forums.station.sony.com/vg/po...m?topic_id=317 Seems quite a lot of folks are having these issues, including me. |

Re: Memory leak?
The /flush never prevents it for me, but it does seem to delay the inevitable for much longer than if I don't /flush anytime I chunk or do a serious amount of travelling.

Re: Memory leak?
I have got to tell ya, having to uae a command to get the game to run properly is not my idea of good coding. I play for the most part for the immersion into the gaming world. Having to /flush to clear memory is not my idea of immersion.
Sigil, your customers should not have to do your job for you. FIX THE MEMORY LEAKS!!
