Re: Memory leak?
Assuming it has at least 128 mgs of dedicated ram (and it probably does), there's no logical reason for that x1300pro to be related to your CtDs. It supports SM3, even.
I expected you to list a 5000 series card, or some integrated solution. Have you tried different driver sets?

Re: Memory leak?
Yep, currently using the Omega set because it seems to be more stable with Vanguard, at least for me.
I'm not saying my stuff runs badly, just that it could run better - and I'm somewhat picky, so I might be making "runs ok" sound like it's dreadful. ![]() I should also note that I can run for several hours (3-5) with no CTD *if* I /flush. I'm not sure if this latter is anything more than rattling a mojo-bag at the problem, or whether it helps in some not-entirely-related way, or whether it's a direct effect - I'm a jill of all computer trades which means I'm totally unspecialised and past faking it, I have no real clue. (Which is why I train people instead. )My issues are nowhere near as severe as what some people are seeing. To be honest, I'm only calling them "issues" because it's not perfect performance. LOTRO had one of the most stable clients I've seen in a long time, let alone in a beta - but LOTRO is also a great deal less ambitious graphically (even though it's quite gorgeous in its own style). What I should have emphasised is that I'm happy with the performance I'm getting. Upgrades here and there on my hardware would help -- getting a real sound card instead of the onboard sound, for instance, would make a diff -- but it runs just fine. I'll upgrade when I'm able (read: when we can afford 2 sets ).I should stop hijacking this memory leak thread, too. Sorry! ![]()

Re: Memory leak?
I recently (last week) upgraded to a 8800 GTS, and although the game looks beautiful, and I run pretty smoothly with the highest settings, I get CTD after about 2 - 3 hours of play and then it starts happening more frequently. I sure hope both nvidia and vanguard do what they need to do soon so that these bugs stop.

Re: Memory leak?
I played for a good few hours last night and didn't get a CTD once. I used /flush a lot and have installed Omega graphics card drivers. I also replaced my .ini file with the High end template available at tentonhammers.com.
I used TuneUp Utilities 2007 to clean and optimise my PC as well. Doing all this seems to have helped my performance an awful lot. Edit: This could be great news for us all. Quote:

Re: Memory leak?
Nil,
The only .ini tweak I am running is the increasing the memory from 32 MB to 256 MB. I have clicked the default settings when that window does pop up after a CTD, and I still CTD. Fyrestorm, Everytime I CTD, I do a full system reboot. just to make sure any and all memory leaks are wiped. I may have to look at the omega drivers though, see if they help. |
