Crashed..Need YOUR Help (Please!)

I was playing VG, computer froze (game locked up) sat for a few mins so i manually restarted, now when I go to click "play' it begins to load and then crashs, everytime. Don't have a system restore point, trying a defrag, did a complete file scan of VG, but I dont think its going to work, this is the info of the Error Report:

Try deleting all your ini files for vangaurd and redownloading them thru the patcher which will reset them to default and the way vanguard was when you started. No game crash should screw over the system only itself, but in saying that computers do act annoyingly at times.

Hmm sounds like a DirectX problem... but not 100%. Will wait for Nil or one of the other folks to chime in.

If it were me, I'd try reinstalling DirectX before I did anything else.

Heh F.E.A.R Combat works fine, i dont think its DX..ill try the ini file suggestion, but failing that, does nnyone have a link to a non MSOFT mirror of DX ? I dont have a legit copy of windows >.<

PS: What ini files should I be deleting ? :S

Except that Vanguard requires the most updated version of DX, and fear doesn't. The file I quoted above is a file associated with that particular version of DX.

At this point, the best advice I can give you is stop stealing.

Heh the guy who sold me windows sold me an illegitimite copy, what can I say ?

I deleted the VGclient.ini file, doing a full file scan now. Anything else I should delete ?

Go ahead and nuke Caches (\\sony\vanguard\bin\) as well.

Seems like a DX problem...where do i uninstall the old file so i can reinstall it ? (not listed in Program Files). Im presently downloading the new Geforce drivers for the 7800 (reinstall rather) to see if that clears it up, doing another complete file scan after having deleted chaches...wish me luck! any input/aid would be great, im not the techy sort at all, so any and all help is seriously appreciated.
