SLI speculation
I read in the beta forums that the devs are going to code the game for SLI after things get stable. I'm hoping to see a nice jump in performance for those of us already running SLI. Anyone want to venture a guess as to what the increase will be? Is 25% too much to hope for? I would love to be able to run on high or highest quality settings (currently balanced) at my current fps (60/30).

Re: SLI speculation
I would say the same frame rates and higher overall render quality is what we will see.
Looks really nice already, can't wait! Amd FX-55 processor 2Gb Corsair ram 2 Nvidia 256 MB 7900 GS in SLI Getting a nice and smooth 35-50 fps in the woods 20-30 in towns (once the place loads) 12-20 in crafting areas |

Re: SLI speculation
I have things cranked pretty high already with my system. Getting about the same 30+ depending on the area. Running it at 1600x1200.

But really, only you can determine whether you need to upgrade or not. If you've tried tweaking and it still doesn't run the way you want it to, then yes, upgrade. Otherwise, if you're happy, then don't.

Re: SLI speculation
Hi,
SLI is already working, the drivers just won't detect vanguard correctly, so heres a way to pass this: note: The latest Nvidia drivers have a new profile, but I can't tell if they work since they're for vista only and don't support SLI yet. First, download nHancer and open it. Next, click on Global on the Settings pane Go to the SLI Mode tab and enter the following hex value: 402209. Now, go to the SLI tab , and click on both the checkbox next to "SLI Load Balancing Graph" and the one next to "on". The screen should flicker for a second. Now load vanguard. If you see a green vertical bar on the left side of the screen, sli is enabled. Hope this guide will work for you. Let me know if you have any problems. Padishar |

Re: SLI speculation
EDIT Again:OK, after playing nearly an hour, I gotta say I'm really pleased. I was wondering what function the green bar served until I put the setting on highest quality, then it filled nearly full with green & bounced around a bit. I am now playing at the highest quality settings & getting nearly the same fps I was on balanced. I didn't see much improvement on balanced, but there wasn't much green in the bar, so I wasn't using my rigs potential. I couldn't play on the highest quality setting before because my fps would drop by 30. I turned off the green bar & am getting 30/50 fps on the highest quality! This is a HUGE improvement for me, thanks padishar. Got any other nifty software that will allow me to use my other 2 sticks of 1 gig ram without buying Vista?

Re: SLI speculation
I can confirm Padishar's instructions work. I'd just add that you may want to reboot after installing nhancer. I tried to follow the instructions immediately after installation and my screen scrambled until I rebooted. After reboot the settings took and I experienced a 8-10fps improvement. Hitching was still pronounced with default settings so I added the bUseShaderCaching=True statement to the [General] section of my vgclient.ini and things are running pretty smoothly now.
