Will Vanguard operate relatively smoothly with this computer?
Hi guys, I hope someone here can help me before I go blow all my tax refund money on this computer. I have to replace parts of this dinosaur I have now anyway, but before I buy anything I want to be sure what I get will operate Vanguard with minimal frustrations. Please check these specs and give me your opinions on what, if anything, I should change. Thank you!
Processor: AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ Processor at 2.0 GHz, 2000MHz FSB, 512KB x 2 Cache PSU: Standard AMD/Intel Certified 500 watt power supply (havent decided on brand) Motherboard: Asus M2N4-SLI Deluxe AM2 nVidia nForce 4 SLI MCP with 2000MHz FSB RAM: 2GB Corsair PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB) Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT XXX 256MB 590 MHz DVI |

Re: Will Vanguard operate relatively smoothly with this computer?
That is much better than the computer I run on and I get over 30 FPS on balanced. It chokes a bit in town, but I have yet to ever play a game that didn't. So yeah, you should be golden with that rig...
Mine is... Athlon 64 3500+ 2 Gigs Corsair PC3200 ATI Radeon x850xt MSI Neo4 Platinum Mobo |

Re: Will Vanguard operate relatively smoothly with this computer?
Well, I ended up going with the GeForce 7900 GS 256mb ddr3 @ 450MHz as the graphics card. What do you think? Is this similar in function to this X1950 pro you mention?
Oh, and also I upped the processor to 4200+ 2.2 GHz. Will that make a difference? (I hope it does cause....there goes every last dollar!) |

Well, of course it'll make a difference, but is it worth it? We can't tell you that without knowing what it cost to upgrade. I'd say the difference is about $30.
