The Vanguard Tech Support Thread

We'll keep this thread updated with Vanguard Support Issues that have fixes.

If you have a question that's not answered in this thread, or have a question about one of the solutions listed here, then please post a new thread in the Nexus so we can work it out without cluttering this reference. After it's fixed, we'll update it here.

I have a GeForce 7300 or lower and I'm getting garbled text whenever I scroll a menu.

Roll your drivers back to version 84.21. Be sure you uninstall your old drivers prior to doing this. To uninstall your drivers (in XP), just go to Start/Settings/Controll Panel/Add or Remove Programs. Find the drivers and click "Remove". It will then prompt you to reboot. After your computer comes back up, install the new drivers, reboot again, and you should be set.

I am crashing to desktop alot.

There are many things that can cause this, but one thing that often works is to delete your "caches" file. You'll find this under \\Sony\Vanguard\Bin\Caches

Delete the entire file - it will be recreated the next time you run the game.

I get the error, "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_31.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

You need to install the latest version of DirectX. You can find it here.

I have SLI, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Padishar discovered that you can enable SLI in vanguard. You can see his post here.

First, download nHancer and open it.

Next, click on Global on the Settings pane

Go to the SLI Mode tab and enter the following hex value: 402209.

Now, go to the SLI tab , and click on both the checkbox next to "SLI Load Balancing Graph" and the one next to "on".
The screen should flicker for a second.

Now load vanguard. If you see a green vertical bar on the left side of the screen, sli is enabled. Thanks, Padishar!
