Hey Everybody.

I decided to post here i checked the New Members topic, And the link was invalid so i figured i'd say Hello here. I'm basically brand new to Vanguard, After a weeks intense information searching and reading everything i could to find out more about it, I decided to get it. I've been patching for roughly 12 hours, And it still says i have about 9 left. Anyways, After reading ALOT on performance issues, Some people are running it well, Others are struggling, I'm about 95 percent sure i will not be able to run it right now. So i guess i'll install and then upgrade my computer soon enough. In the mean while i'll hang out with you guys on here!

Sorry for the long message but just wanted to let everyone know i'm here aha!

Yeah well this is ridiculous, It has literally been roughly a day of patching. I've slept twice and it's still going. And it still says 10 hours left. Anyone know why it's taking so long? Kind of stupid to have 3 days jump yet spend it patching...

There are certain files that it hangs on. Often, stopping the patch then restarting it fixes the issue.

As far as wondering whether or not your computer will run it, let us know what you have and we can give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Yeah i was debating on restarting it but at the same time i was worried, I REALLY wouldn't want to have to restart a day of patching over again heh.



Well...

System Model: Aspire T320
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.80GHz
Memory: 768MB RAM
Page File: 554MB used, 1323MB available

Using Geforce 5500. I know that won't cut it, I'm not worried right now since i'd like to get it installed and patched and then go from there, If you could suggest anything it would definately help alot.

Oi, Kyle, 5500 will probably run it but it might be a little like self-flagellation from what I hear. Try it out and if it's too bad for you ask and we'll help ya figure out what you need. It's easy to say you could use a new video card but how old is your comp? It might be more economical to build a new one all together if it's just that time. I think a lot of people are going to be upgrading to 64 bit machines since Vista is out.

Right, I assumed i was out of date on alot of my stuff i figured if i could run it, It definately would be slow or something. Next to that, My computer is about 2-3 years old. I actually just had it recently wiped. Whatever is cheaper towards playing Vanguard is the way i want to go, For now atleast, It's snow and nothing but snow here, And i work for a Roofing Company, So we don't have many calls which means money is tight. Which means i only have roughly 500 dollars tops to upgrade or invest in something new.

Update on my current situation heh, Nil you nailed it! I closed it, Repatched it took less then half an hour and the play button is up! Thanks a bunch!


EDIT:Can't log on aha, I got a message saying my account information isn't working or something and to contact support if it continues.

Another EDIT: I got past last part, Now i get this error:

"This application has failed to start becayse d3dx9_31.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Any ideas?

When launching Vanguard I press PLAY and nothing happens or I receive the following error: “The application has failed to start because d3dx9_31.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”
The reason that you are receiving this error is because you may not have the newest version of DirectX as of October 2006 on your computer. You can download the new version via the link below:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx.

Be sure to restart computer after installing Directx and in some cases you may need to uninstall your previous version before installing the newest one.

Thanks, I got it working, Which really doesn't matter since i can hardly do anything. After i launched, Loaded up got to the server select screen, There were no servers. And when i move my mouse it moves a bit then freezes temporarily over and over again. So im due for a HUGE upgrade apparently.
