Some Beta help, please.
I am not sure if this goes here or somewhere else, so forgive me if this is the wrong board.
Since I don't have access to the beta boards yet I'll ask this here just in case some Vets of beta know the answere. I am experianceing a strange bug/ event? My pc will just shut down in the game. No message no boot to the desktop. The screen goes black and then my machine shut's itself off lol. I have several games that take a ton of graphics to process and I tried all day to simulate this in several games but couldn't, thinking something in my system broke. Shrug. Any help here would be sweet. I did not nor do I expect perfection in any game and definately not in a beta so I am not daunted or agrivated and am not looking for a topic to flame. If this is a known issue that's cool just tell me that, thanks ![]()

Re: Some Beta help, please.
Based on what I've heard, the game does not require that much in hardware resources. Which is contrary to what you have probably heard or read.
Right now the game is running for people with GForce 5 series cards. Without any new information I would hazard a guess that you should start updating drivers. And download the current Microsoft DX9 as instructed. |

Re: Some Beta help, please.
Etrigen - Thanks I'll try that =)
Pirotess - Thank you, I have a 450 watt pwer supply but am runing 7 120 mm fans so maybe it's low. It's a good brand although I forget the name. I'll blow the the comp out tonight. Games I run full bore with no or little lag prob MT2W this one really stresses everything especially at sieges Silent hunter 3 GWX mod- more processor strain here then graphics. I forget my mark test scores heh but I never understand them when I use it anyway. Delvie - Thank you, Actually after dling the beta stuff I went back to ms and redownloaded and reinstalled the only dx driver update they said was available to me. I had done this back in october but did it again just in case. To everyone thank you for the repsonces. hugs. I will do all this and get back to you. Note my son can play the game fine on a lot less system lol and I can hear the next suggestion before it's made haha, but he is in the middle of his bs work in programming and I would rather solo the highest raid mob in the game naked then suffer that look I got after suggesting it to him when he said, "Dad, I love you man but do you have any idea how much software I would have to reload? LOL

Re: Some Beta help, please.
Need to understand that an MMO runs differently on your system than does a regular game. MMO's rely on your components differently. To be honest your CPU has as much to do with MMO performance as your video card does, as does RAM. So make sure that you've got any patches or drivers that either Microsoft and AMD have out for your specified parts. I know when I was playing EQ2 there were issues when I got my AMD FX-60 dual core. Both Microsoft and AMD had patches that helped improve performance or fixed crashing. Honestly might see about upping your PSU though. I think Pirotess might be right. 450w with what you have giong in that system might be pulling a lot. That was another suggestion the EQ2 guys made for me.

Re: Some Beta help, please.
Hi folks. Again thanks for all the input. What I did was clean and dust the inside, downloaded the new game files yesterday and loged in for the test and..... played untill 6 am est! Had a blast as Dandy Dan the dwarf rogue with my son playing a cleric. Not sure what the real fix was the files or the dusting!
Feds You are correct! And you can really see my cpu struggleing under the 3 d mark 06 cpu tests LOL I average 0 fps with this single core 3800, the vid card while it may not be as good as your rig is still a good one unless runing the tests against sli or crossfire configs. But being honest I would have to see the game runing at optimal to determine how much of a margine is really made in Vanguard with a mid tier machine juxtaposed an asualt on the walls of home pc tech, in game. Also at this time I want to see this mid tier for at least the rest of beta to determine how many WoW players might bleed over to make this title a market success. While I can pick up the phone and make an order from alienware or Falcon nw or Voodoo or some other "Boutique" vendor, Most gamers (16 to 22) can't. Thought for the day regarding this general topic, WoW has 6 million subscriptions!!! That is HUGE. And how can we best get them to Vanguard ? Word of mouth to the guilds I play in and my brother plays in and I already know most play that on mid tier machines. What did happen last night even with the things they are working on to stabilize the game was this; I fell in love with Vanguards system, with mr M's vision. Thank you all so much for your help. All of it good and all of it reflected a genuine desire to help one more person get into the game. Hugs
