Performance Thread

I wanna know what kind of performance people are actually getting in this game. Here I go, bottom of the heap for sure:

P4 2.8 GHz
1GB PC2700 (I think)
Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB
Generic PCI sound card

High performance settings, .INI file tweaks, 1024x768 resolution

17 FPS: open outdoor areas
22 FPS: indoors
08 FPS: towns

Re: Performance Thread

P4 3.06
2 gig OCR Ram
7600GS AGP
SB Audigy
old school 5400 rpm HD

I am set on Balanced, full screen with downward tweaks on some settings like tree detail and shadows.

30 fps indoors
25 fps outdoors
15-22 fps towns, sometimes as low as two or three for a few seconds.

Re: Performance Thread

AMD64 3000
2 gigs of ram
Radeon X1600pro (go, go, AGP!)

I run on high performance and get around 22 fps most of the time. Indoors is usually no better than outdoors, though cities do fall.

Your 9500 handles it decently, CS. I'm impressed.

Re: Performance Thread

AMD64 FX-60 Dual Core
2gb Corsair RAM
GeForce 7900 GTX 512mb PCIe
SB X-Fi XtremeMusic

Was running 1600x1200, balanced performance with almost everything turned up. Getting about 40+ FPS in the wilderness, between 30-35 in Dahktrag. No file tweaks (didn't have time before work to get into them much.) My beta forums access finally went through today. Took a while.

Looked gorgeous.

Re: Performance Thread

AMD 64 3700+ San Diego
1Gb Corsair XMS (2-2-2-5)
BFG 7800GT 256Mb
Asus A8N-E
320GB Seagate 7200.10

Balanced with no volumetric clouds

1280x1024
Indoors: 50-65
Outdoors: 35-50ish
Towns and cities: 10-25 Plunges into unplayable when the HDD is constantly accessing 0.5FPS FTW!!

I am contemplating sinking $130 to put in another Gb of corsair. Can afford much else with having to upgrade my wife's computer. Her's is going to blow mine away

The numbers sort of lie. Those are the average frame rates from Vanguard's built in FPS meter, but they don't really take into account the hitching I get (action freezes for about a second, sometimes two) which is especially bad in combat. I also have to /flush fairly often. I don't actually crash, though I've never played more than 45 minutes at a go.

The other gig will likely make a big difference.

I put VG on a backup computer (2600 Barton, 1 gb ram, Geforce 6600GT) and it jumped around all over the place. I put in another gb of ram and it was like a whole new game.

I figured as much, but I'm glad to see that it works at all. Min frames usually shows a better picture of how a card performs, but still, the 9500 certainly wasn't a powerhouse, even 3 years ago when it was new, and it runs VG.

Thats my experience too. I get a decent amount of hitching even after using the bUserShaderCache ini tweak. I also end up flushing every 15-30 minutes as well. Im currently running on the following machine.

AMD 64 4400+ X2
2 GB OCZ Platinum Pro
DFI UT LanParty SLI-DR Expert
Two eVGA 7800GTs running in SLI
WD Raptor 150gig

Really hope they get some good optimization done in the next few weeks or I fear people wont even give the game a chance.

In any certain areas? I'm surprised this is a problem you're having as it's not something I'm experiencing with my no-name 7200 40 gb harddrive (well, other than chunking, which is still messed up beyond reason for a game so close to release), nor has it been an issue with any of my other friends.

I suppose it could be a perception issue because none of us has a nice rig and hard drive hitching is more pronounced at 40fps than it is at 20.

Re: Performance Thread

It gets really bad in the Kojan areas when its raining but I notice it in cities alot as well. New Targonor is really bad for it especially. Theres been some who have suggested its part of the dual core bug thats plagued the game for quite some time but I still think its a problem with the game engine itself since it has gotten ALOT better since I started using the bUseShaderCache ini tweak. Personally I think they need to drop the size of the texture maps so we dont grind our hard drives so badly each time we have to load a new massive texture in.
