Wireless Network Card or USB??
So the router is downstairs in the living room, the VG machine is upstairs in the office....better to get the card or USB wireless? The house isn't huge but I don't want a weak signal either. I've looked at a few and I'm guessing the USB's aren't getting near as high transfer rates as the cards..thoughts?

Re: Wireless Network Card or USB??
In almost every case, the card variety is better than the USB variety. USB is convenient, but generally not as powerful as a dedicated card.
But still, gaming on the wireless? Ick. (Actually, I did it for nearly two years).

Re: Wireless Network Card or USB??
I know it. I don't really want to game on wireless but at this point I don't have a choice. I was thinking one of the "gaming" wireless cards, a little more expensive but I want something longer range (to ensure strong signal strength)

Did you look at D-Lan? Works nice in your kind of situation.
Only downside is the price, but it might be what you're looking for ![]() Review: http://www.trustedreviews.com/networ...Starter-Kit/p1 Last edited by Mikis : 01-03-2007 at 04:07 PM. |

But Mikis (welcome to the Nexus, btw) has a good point, it looks like this might overcome the disconnection issues that plague wireless gaming. How many computers use your 801 network? Is it a house, or some other type of domicile? Are that many other networks nearby? I've heard good things about DLink's Gamefuel router, but it's pretty pricey at $120.

Re: Wireless Network Card or USB??
Thanks for the welcome. I usually keep a low profile but I log in ot the forums 10 or so times a day to look for updates :P
The D-Lan technology is definately interesting, especially for people that has thick walls and don't want to rely on wireless for their gaming. |
