am2 and quad core processing

Ok....Im guessing everyone knows about the am2 and how intel has almost mastered the quad core processor....So, with all this in mind...will you guys be upgrading your current computers if it makes a big difference in vanguard, or will you stick with what you have?

And as for the am2 and such....
A: amd or intel?
B: will you buy the am2 when it comes out or the quad core processor?

Personally, Im a fan of amd, and aside from another stick of ram to bump me up to 2 gigs, Im not planning on buying anything more for my pc (ok....I MIGHT...jist might buy an sli ready 512 graphics card if I see its nessecary...but only because I could transfer that to a new computer)
At the moment I have a 256 nvidia geforce 6150 (ick...its integrated)
2.4 gig processor, and 1 gig of ram.

I know, its not anything special...but like I said...Im holding out for the am2, and at that point Ill probably sell this pc, and buy something that costs me an arm, a kidney, and 4 years of slavery.

It'll largely depend on the performance of AMD's quad core processors. If the quad core isn't even as good a Core2Duo, then I wouldn't even consider it - unless it's purty cheap.

AMD did announce a new line of power-efficient chips that look tempting. It'll depend on what they retail for.

Re: am2 and quad core processing

I am really simple when it comes to the new and better stuff. As long as what I have plays games at a good frame rate at the native resolution for my monitor and I get to turn on some eye candy im happy. When this stops happening I upgrade. Depending on how sever the problem depends on how sever the upgrade lol. Im sure I will get all the latest greatest stuff it just probably will not be right when it comes out. Right now my system listed in the gaming rigs section plays everything beautifully. Beside if all of this is just for Vanguard? I promise your not going to need a super computer its just going to be another game as far as graphics go. It is not going to force everyone to have the very latest or it will fail right there. I bet youll be fine to play it at lower resolutions with a gig of ram and a 6600 GT or even lower.

Well, that was a helpful post.

Neatton is correct, by the way. I ran Oblivion comfortably on a 9600XT. True, not much of the eye candy was on, but it did the job.

If you're willing to lower settings, many cards get the job done.

I have a dummy question here, does Vsoh support multi core instructions?

Re: am2 and quad core processing

I'm sceptical about the Quad Core's at the moment, but seeing as I'm away from reliable internet for a while and won't be back till April hopefulyl prices will drop on that and the shiny new Nvidia 8800 GTX's. Dual 768Mb Graphic cards anyone? With 4 moneths to work out the quirks and bring the prices down, shouldn't be an issue
