Ok, I know I want an Anthlon Dual Core Chip and a Mobo that offers 8 gigs of ddr2 ram. I am still deciding whether I should SLI or not, but if I do, I want 512meg video cards.

So could someone point out some stuff? I honestly went to newegg and got lost. I suck now.

I forgot to add, I have a Xeon case with the geeky green lighting deal. I don't care for the light but the 2 case fans along with the PS fan make it a decent case. I also have a 525 watt power supply and a Mad Dog DVD burner.

HINT: Dont say more than 4gigs unless you're some photoshop/video editting freak that figured out how to get things running smoothly in the Vista beta 2.

I was planning 4? But I wanted the ability to upgrade in the future. Also, my wife like to play with art programs. I figured 4 would be the way to go. I also realized that I may need more later if Vanguard turns into an XP beast that doesn't do things effeciently.

Can you ever really have "too much ram"? Lets say VG is 6 gigs, wouldn't it be cool just to load it into ram?

4 is a good answer and starting point. Personally I think anything more than that is a total waste right now. Maybe not the case in a few years but right now for the average user 4gigs is plenty.

After reading your criteria and seeing what is available for it at the moment my recommendation is to wait for two months to purchase the core components. Main reason behing this is to let motherboards catch up to the CPUs and let Conroe release.

whats your take on this motherboard? has a lot of the right words but some of the techy talk makes my head hurt
