Build it so I can play...
Well my poor old computer is on it's last leg. I don't have the money to go out and buy a new one for $1500.00 in one shot. So I though I would buy it one piece per paycheck so it does not sting too much. Well then it happened. I started looking and got so confused with everything that's out there I stopped. So I need help. Here is what I'm looking for in my next computer, and here is the price I would like to stay with in: I want to run VG:SoH, Have a internal DVD Reader/Burner, internal CD Reader/Burner, and try not to spend more then $2000.00. If anybody could give me a complete list that I can buy I would appreciate it. Also the only two web site that I know too buy parts from is Pricewatch and Tigerdirect. If you know any more or better ones please let me know.
Thanks Aadwen |

Re: Build it so I can play...
www.Newegg.com or
www.clubit.com These are my online retailers that I trust to purchase from. I think with that budget you should wait for either socket AM2 which is AMDs new socket or Intel's conroe core to come out. The AM2 is due out in about 5 or 6 weeks. This is supposed to greatly increase performance and will give you a better bang for your buck if nothing else. Should be able to build a higher end machine to last you sometime when that time comes aorund.

Re: Build it so I can play...
i'd advice not buying one part per pay check. best to set up a second saving account and have $ X transfered into it every month (or however offten your paid), thus eventualy having an account with $1500 in it ready to buy a new PC with.
reason for this is that say you buy a geforce 7800 tomorrow, a few months down the line same card will probably cost $100 less and you'll still not have a whole PC. just parts that have since devalued. computer hardware devalues quicker than just about any other product out there, even cars. im sure you wouldn't buy bits of a whole car in this way... same goes. second savings account also means your not tempted to check your balance and splash out on something and have to cut short on your PC upgrade. and at the risk of being rude to direct you to another fan site... silkyvenom has a little hardware section with an up to date computer build. http://www.silkyvenom.com/?page=fozzik go to recomendations |

Re: Build it so I can play...
Sound advice from Neatton and Xanoth (Except the Silky Venom link of course!
) If you cant resist the instant gratification urge though and want to proceed with a PC right now your best bet would be a AMD x2 socket 939 chip of your choice, a Nvidia nForce 4 motherboard from your favorite manufacturer (For example Abit, Asus, MSI), at least a gig of RAM from a well known memory manufacturer like (Corsair, Crucial or OCZ) and a nice ATI 1800 or Nvidia 7900. If you take a look at some of the rigs in the Gaming Rigs section at the top of this forum you can get some more precise item descriptions. If you have any questions about why those people chose those components Im sure a quick post in their thread would get you a helpful answer. ![]()
