Should we open the Dev Tracker threads up to community comments?
I've often wondered if we should keep the dev tracker pristine as it is now as purely a tool to see what the devs are saying or allow our community to post in response to those various comments. What do you think?

What do you think about having a link at the bottom that quotes the Dev post into a new thread in a different forum? I think I could figure that kind of feature out.

Yep that was in response to your post. I can see your concern about having the discussion in the same thread though.

I think the purpose of the dev tracker is to let all of us see the exact words of whatever the devs say. To me it is a natural extension to then let people debate the significance/etc in the same thread.

Re: Should we open the Dev Tracker threads up to community comments?
I don't really know if it is neccesary as it does link the original thread it was posted in on the official forums and I usually reply to any dev quotes on those forums anyway. If every comment by a Sigil employee makes a new thread automatically there would end up being alot of extra threads on these forums that really are not needed, especially if you open up the dev tracker to community commentary. Of course opening it up to community commentary isn't a bad thing either. Also it might not be a bad idea to add Microsoft Employee L. Train to the tracker as he has been posting in the production forums quite a bit lately.

Re: Should we open the Dev Tracker threads up to community comments?
L-Train has been in our tracker for the last month or so. Is he not showing up? Theres been a good dozen posts into his section this week alone!
I wouldnt make it automatically create a new thread each time a dev post came in. It would just be an option if someone read a post and wanted to comment here instead of in the original thread. Sometimes the OVF threads get so cluttered up you cant possibly keep up with them and your comments get lost. Not a problem here...yet. ![]()
