Are you an MMO refugee?

I’m currently a mmorpg refugee. Used to play eq1 until eq2 came out.

Eq2 was a very big disappointment and the whole implement of the game was not something I liked at all, so I left and tried to go back to eq1.

Eq1 was fine despite some unfavorable changes in my own opinion, but when I came back to it after I left eq2, it was hard to get back into it due to the graphics and the old “been there, done that” feeling I get.

Just biding my time and checking the forums now and then till vanguard comes out.

I'm not presently playing any mmo's atm, mainly because my comp is 6 years old and a piece of gateway junk. I played WoW on and off for about 6-8 months now the game really lacks what eq had for me, and that was the people. I must say spot-on description Daeanor about WoW. Everquest was special to me because of the people I played with and the game concept, they had me at hello. I really can't wait for Vanguard to come out I'm going to be trying my hand at building my own PC to play the game, I plan to get started soon.

And believe it or not LOTRO.

I am looking for something different has has at least some elements of a "sandbox" game, and Im hoping Vanguard will be it.

I am playing EVE Online right now and enjoying it, but I hope Vanguard has a bit more......

There must be something really wrong with WOW* because everyone I hear about it is bored after a year.(including me) Especially if you look at EQ going on for years. Is it purely because EQ used to be the better game or was it the only real MMO out there at the time?

I am 25 so I could have been playing it but I wasn't into RPG's that much then.

O and Mobius I am going to have to upgrade my pc too before Vanguard releases I can just play WOW (also 40man raids) but newer games are a pain.



*I say WOW here because I played it so I hear most about that. I also read about people saying the same about EQ2, GW and many others.

Theres nothing really wrong with WoW, its Blizzard that is the problem. In what seems to be their arrogance they decided they didnt need an expansion until 2 years after they launched the game. I dont care how much content they have patched in since then, they needed to have at least one expansion between launch and The Burning Crusades to keep people hooked. By and large their customer base has a short attention span so they need to keep people busy busy busy.

I am a warcraft refugee...Im only going to keep my account on wow for as long as it takes me to get my friends there to come to vanguard.
And as for the lack of caring in mmo's, its not from the depvelopment team I think. I belive it has more to do with the people they allow to distribute the game pushing them into irresistable deals to do things to the game they never wanted to....personally, I cant wait to see an mmo that preserves its gameplay structure throughout every expansion. (UNLIKE SWG!!)

Sigil is certainly talking the talk so far about preserving their gameplay for many years to come. They claim they have things planned out about 7 years. If they actually do, this could be an amazing game when we get to that point.

SWG refugee currently playing DDO which I really like except for the difficulty in finding peeps to group to do what YOU want to do.
Can't wait for Vanguard though.

Just purchased Access Collection with 30 days free for each game from Sony to inlcude EQ 1 and 2 , SWG, Planetside, Matrix online, just to pass the time until Vanguard releases.
