Re: Death Penalty
I voted for experience loss with level loss. I really like the way it was in Everquest.
When I played Everquest 2, the experience debt really did not have that much impact on how I and others would think twice before trying to do something risky. (combined with returing to bind-point with all my equipment) About trivial loot code, I’m for it as I do not believe anyone of a high level should get any special drops from a lower mob that poses no challenge at all. It also leaves the area for the level appropriate people to do their thing without having a high level chain pull all the mobs for farming purposes. If a high level need some of the drop for one reason or another then maybe he/she could ask and/or pay a lower level to do the job for him/her. It may not sound good to some people but socializing is a good part of the game and this helps it.

Re: Death Penalty
Hello community... My first post here.
I voted for EXP loss and possible level loss. As some have stated on here already, death should be something that is feared and when it happens should sting. I am seeing a trend in other online games where death is not feared and is becoming trivial. And these games are losing players because of it. I must say, that this game has me excited just like when I first heard of EQ1 back in the day. |

Welcome to our forums Plisskenati. Thanks for stopping by.
![]() Im finding it quite interesting that as of this post 84% of respondants prefer XP loss to XP debt. Thats a huge imbalance.

Re: Death Penalty
forgive me for asking a stupid question but would the xp debt and level loss also count if your death is resulted from another player. If yes would there be a grace period were if you you won't get an xp penalty for say 3 min after returning to your body unless you attack another player so that it could not be abused this would make it harder to have people from both sides abuse the system but that's just one idiots idea sorry

Re: Death Penalty
They havn't really mentioned anything about deaths in PvP. They're very hush-hush about that, as it's not their primary effort developing the game. There will be PvP servers at launch, but for now they're not giving many details about how it will work.

Re: Death Penalty
Hi All,
I made it a point to vote before I read the post so I wouldn't be swayed. I did vote for Exp Debt, no lvl gain. But on further review, I would have to say Exp loss with lvl loss. It does depend alot on the game structure, PVP,Farming, Loot Sys and other things we are not sure of yet. But in general, Death (Like in RL) should be avoided at all cost. You have to make it hurt so people think before they act. I like a sense of accomplishment based on how I thought through an encounter. If you take away the pain, or make it realtively painless, then you reduce the sense of accopmlishment you get when you complete a difficult task without dying.
