Do you plan to play Vanguard with music on or off?

I will be playing my own music in the background. In game music can be wonderful at the start, but it gets old and very repeative after a while.

The other thing is that a lot of people have their preferred music such as heavy metal, Rock’n’Roll and so on, so the in-game music may not appeal to some people.

Have you read or heard anything Todd Masten (Nino) has written about or for the game yet? It's pretty groundbreaking technology that should help a ton in the "boring-factor" and really add to the experience in general.

I read a little bit of what Todd Masten has written. Sounds good. I will wait until I get the game and see what I think of it.

Anyway, ultimately in the end it all comes down to what each individual makes of it and some will tire of it rather quickly and others may think it is the best thing ever.

P.S. It was about 6-10 months ago, but I sure did like your idea of how a bard could make music in the official Vanguard Forums, even though I’m not musical.

I lsiten to the Music. Espically when i am roaming about killing things or Harvesting.

Like lycrist said I can't image eq without hearing the music. The battle music did get really old, I hope we can turn that off. As well as being able to turn certian eviormental sounds off the banits in paldul (sp?) almost ruined a fun zone for me. I plan to turn it on and leave it on unless there are places that I hunt often with annoing music/envrioment noise that you can't turn off one at a time.

Thing is though, Flagg, the combat music isn't going to be just one track this time around Each combat situation will be an extra layer to the existing area music as opposed to one "battle tune" that just keeps getting brought back again and again.

I always play with game music on. I don't know why?? Maybe because I am a little older so I just don't find putting on the rock 'n roll and playing MMO being very immersive. Well, if that is if you like the rock 'n roll that I like. Stuff like Accept "Balls to the Wall" and Metallica and Motorhead and Black Sabbath and Dio (Rainbow). They just don't really make High Fantasy MMO theme music. I actually like the music that is packed with the game.

HAHA, what a noob I am. Music like that rock music listed above is more about getting "pepped" up for a night on the town instead of playing fantasy RPG. So I am always happy with the music the game ships with. It is somewhat mesmorizing...I found myself (on the rare occassion that I partake) just wandering around in a trance in World of Warcraft.

I guess I said too much already. Sorry for the rambling but the Rogue St. Rogue Red ale and wine I drank during the first half of the Seahawks game has got me ramblin.

even with that said colbalt I still hope that they give us more options then just all on or all off. I love the music thus far but even if its the best music evar I will get sick of hearing the same songs played for a few mintues while I slice away at some orc. Personally I wish they would just take away the battle music as this and some select sounds that certian zones repeated over and over was the only thing that made me turn it off in everquest otherwise I think even back then it sounded wonderful and it seems that v:soh is focusing on improving this as well as most other acpects in the game I can't fricking wait...well I guess I have too

The music of Vanguard look pretty nice. Think i will play first week with it. After i will be concentrated on my craft lol. Will need a subliminal tool in the music saying ".. work lttle gnome .. work hard .. work little gnome ...."
