Sigil/SoE Update from Brad

For those following the continuing saga of "Myth vs Fact" in the SoE/Sigil arena, Brad McQuaid has just posted this for everyone to read and digest. It starts out this way:

"SOE is in discussions with Sigil regarding the future of Vanguard and Sigil Games in Carlsbad. Talks are going well and first and foremost, our primary concern right now is what's best for Vanguard and its community. We want to ensure that this game and its community have a healthy future. The specifics that we work out over the coming days will all be with that single goal in mind."

Feel free to discuss this, but again, please keep it civil, friendly and up to the standards we expect from our members. We're all going thru a time of transition, and it's going to be full of questions and more rumors, even. Don't make decisions based on rumors. We'll bring you the facts as we get them, and we know you will do the same!

I am not surprised by this development. Vanguard is the first game I have played that is failing due to poor management decisions rather than poor design and bugs.

Sigil suffered from inexperience and over enthusiasm and has suffered as a result. Vanguard is basically a winner in need of someone with skill and panache to sort it out and relaunch it.

It is unfortunate that the chosen partner is SOE. Not that I have any personal grudge against they company but it is clear that there are a lot of players who do.

I agree that a major advertising / marketing campaign is needed to "get the word out" about vanguard. There were one or two posters at my local gamespot for a small bit and then nothing when the game had its official release.

Someone dropped the ball and didnt get sony's massive advertising in gear - or whoever's advertising.

before Blizzards Wow expansion was released, i saw nothing else for at least two months - thats the kind of campaign that is needed. When Vanguard came out it was like it was a secret and people were whispering about the release (i dont think they were actually whispering but thats what it seemed like lol).

If they would just advertise it would be fine. Im not a marketing executive and im not in the business but thats what it looks like to me.

I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but I have not been reading the boards lately, and I find recent developments to be pertenent.

Now that SOE has aquired Sigil, you have my condolences.

Brads reliance on people upgrading to new machines backfired. Vista is a dog, and like many people, I did not upgrade. It is doing so bad, Dell is offering new machines loaded with old copys of XP just to satisfy customers who dont want to deal with Microsofts latest debacle. SOOOOOOOO.....

Very few people are gonna upgrade computers, and fewer still for a game.

I had too many problems with the game, and quit playing. The framerate issues made the game un-fun to play, and I had to keep the graphics so low that it looked like EQ.

I have played LOTR in beta, and the game is solid, graphics are incredible, and lag is very low. It would be my choice for a game.

Get used to bad customer service, cuz that is all SOE has got.
