We're in the news!!

There's a new MMO rag in town, only this time, it's online. Go visit AFK Magazine and see what the buzz is about. I'm enjoying it a lot! Pages turn and the reading is informative and interesting. In the second edition that was just released, you'll see some familiar things, like a bunch about our favorite game! Interviews with Jeff and Nick, and even a little spot about....US!...on page 116! (hmm...notice how US and VS are so similar??)

Over in The Academy, everyone's favorite Diplo Dev, Aruspex, has left us a note on what he does at 2a.m.! See his notes about the "State of Diplomacy" Stuff and add your comments.

In the Other Strangeness category, the lawsuit between Cisco and Apple is on hold!! This is a very recent (30 minutes ago) development, and if the iPhone wasn't such a hot subject, I'd probably have ignored it, but....I'm a geek! What can I say??

Ok, so while we're at it, there's the Apple vs MicroSoft Vista campaign! They're new slogan so totally reminds me of the neXt computer that Steve Jobs had. The reason it didn't fly?? It was WAY ahead of it's time! Mac's new slogan? "Why upgrade to Vista when you can upgrade past it?"

Which all leaves us with the burning questions:

HEY, Sigil d00ds.....what about VSoH on the Mac?? hmmm? Doesn't it almost follow a tradition?

So far over the past year I've been to acouple different sessions where Microsoft was trying to show off Vista. At both sessions the desktop widgets were showing the computer using 30% at idle. 30% of the 4 GBs of RAM that these laptops had installed. Granted I cannot testify on how many applications the guys were running in the background, but that still wasnt too impressing.

I think the OS will be for the niche market and wont catch on for another year or two, when the OS is more refined and computers start to catch up in power and price. It has a lot of cool bells and whistles, but nothing that really jumped out that would be that useful for everday users.

That AFK mag is very nice and a great shout out to this website on it aswell, I think that deserves a pat on the back for all you guys that work this site. On the vista issue, having seen first hand some playtests on it and what artist and game designers have been saying about what it will do in the future I can't wait for it, just for the game power in a full functional Directx 10 in a couple of months maybe a year we will all be saying, "move over to vista it will make life easier"
