Well there was a bit of an RP event prior to the full on griffon ridefest. We were given clues as to where the goblin shaman had fled to after being bad goblins and cursing/poisoning griffons (I'm tired, don't quote me, can't remember the specifics - basically from the rp story premise that was in the announcement). These clues led to areas around Telon and a handful of people got special GM items (assume perma-griffons).
After all were found, griffon handlers (vendors) could be found near starting areas on all continents. You can "buy" a griffon from them (it's free) and fly to your heart's content. They did say that after the patch the vendors will still be there.

Nice, so once the servers come back up I still might get a chance huh? When you say "perma-griffons", do you mean that carry over to the Live servers? Or just for rest of beta? If it carrys over to Live it kinda sucks for everyone that didn't have a chance do to short notice.
