November Beta-Slot Contest!

It seems like people like writing, soooo.....write on!

How many poets are out there? *looks around* Nooo...doesn't have to be the sing-songy kind. Prose would work or even haiku (and it seems someone here already knows what that is!). Sing-song style works, as well. Whatever floats your boat, actually, as long as it fits in with Vanguard!

This time, though, a theme! Think of a holiday that would be appropriate to Telon for this month, and use that as the basis for your entry. Come up with a creative name for the holiday and let us "see" it thru your words.

Pretty much the same rules apply as for the short story contest:

- Must be written in English (or translated into English first)
- Must be appropriate for the general population to read (in other words, PG-13 and down...not up!)
- Must be original content...and yes, there are ways to check! No plagiarism!
- Must not contain your forum name
- No more than one page long at font size 11 (no, not condensed!)
- Any entry found inappropriate will be held, pending notification to the author to edit the content.
- Please be certain to register on the site, if you haven't already, and send me your forum name WITH your entry so we will know who to PM with the winning notification.

When you are finished and have proofread your entry, please e-mail them to me at aredhel.vanguard@gmail.com and I will post them for everyone to read. I must have these in my box by midnight Thursday, Nov. 30. The winner will be notified Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 (barring any unforeseen issues like we had this past time!). Unfortunatley, we can't tell you who wins, but we can let you know which entry and all of the entries will be on the site for you to read and enjoy.

And now, one more thing: The December contest!!

We're getting an early start for a very good reason. Here's the low-down:

We know that there are those who enjoy composing music. That's how Nino (aka Todd Masten) started, right? Our own Cobalt Katze shares the same passion, to say the least. SO...those of you out there who might be of the same persuasion, let's hear it!

Rules of the road:

- Must be mp3
- Can not be over 4 minutes in length
- Must be Vanguard inspired and have a title and explanation to set the mood (look at the lore, if you're not sure!)
- Can be any style (classical, jazz, techno...you get the idea...but no "cheesy" pop, ok?)
- If you have a copyright on the piece, please include a release stating Vanguard Spheres has your permission to post it on our site.
- Must be in my e-mail (see above) by midnight, otherwise known as New Year's Eve, (yes...I lead an exciting life!) and winner will be notified by PM, no later than January 5th, 2007

11/13/06 MODIFICATIONS:

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for each contests (poetry and composition)! Better chances to win and show what you can do!. The second full week of each month, there will be a random drawing for a slot.

Rules? Simply e-mail me (see addy above) with your entry (must be a registered VS member and include your forum name), and all entries will go into the "hat" and be drawn by someone other than me! (Maybe my boss at work?) That means, by the end of THIS week (Nov. 18th) midnight, I must have all entries in my mail box. We'll let the winner know Sunday, the 19th! I'll remind you of the December drawing next month!

Any questions? Did I leave anything out? If so, we'll answer you as quickly as possible.

I'm afraid I'm a little confused. Are you randomly drawing the winner, or judging and taking 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places? Or is it both? sorry to bother!

LOL Miy you had best read through the directions for the November contest again. While that is a catchy poem it dosent quite fit the request. Hehe

That's why I mentioned more chances!!

For November, we'll have the poetry contest, and for December, the music composition...both with places 1 - 3. In addition, we'll do a "hat" drawing one week each month that will make up the 4th drawing for the month.

Is that any clearer?? If not, blame home fragrances. I just got home from work!

Im currently perusing the Telonina Lore page looking to see if a Telonian Calendar has been established (and published) If you know the answer to that its about my only question left

There are clues to certain months and such, but as far as an actual calendar, I'm not sure. Actually, I've asked for the same thing from Sigil, so maybe we can find out?
