September Beta slot!

I bet everyone thought we forgot this months beta slot giveaway didnt you? Not so! We ran a full month referral contest for our first giveaway so I thought it would be nice to run a little less time intensive contest this month.

So by now I'm sure you are wondering just what are we going to do this time around. I took a look around at the forums and see that we have quite a few daily visitors but for some reason folks dont like to contribute to the forums much. We're going to see if we can do something about that so we've decided to do a posting contest but not just any posting contest. We definitely dont want the boards spammed with a million threads all about the same thing or about something not even Vanguard related. We want real indepth threads that provoke thought and debate about various aspects of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. So if you have a strong opinion about something related to Vanguard in some fashion lets hear about it. Here's how the contest will be run.

• Threads must be started between Monday, September 25th at 7pm EST and Friday, September 29th at 11:59pm EST.
• Threads must have at least one response from someone other than the original poster to be eligible.
• Threads must be placed in the proper forum as described by the forum descriptions visible on the forum index.
• Threads must be about some aspect of Vanguard or MMO's in general. We dont want a bunch of those forum posting games popping up!
• Threads that are deemed repeats of another thread started in the aforementioned timeframe will be merged at the discretion of the Vanguard Spheres staff. This will result in the first poster getting credit for all posts in the thread so pay attention to what other topics have been posted this week. You can easily see whats been posted about by using the advanced search function and sorting by date.
• You can create as many different threads about different topics as you would like as long as they adhere to the rules stated above.
• To submit your thread for consideration you must send a private message to me with the subject of September Beta Contest and contain ONLY the direct URL to the thread.
• Threads will be judged by the Vanguard Spheres staff on the following criteria:
  • How well the original topic was written. This includes spelling, grammar and format (use the built-in spell checker and font, color, highlighting tools!)
  • How well the original topic was received by the rest of the Vanguard Spheres forum members. This includes number of responses, length of responses, etc.
• Former winners of our Beta slot giveaways and Vanguard Spheres staff are not eligible to win this months contest.
• The winner of this months contest will be decided on by the Vanguard Spheres staff on Sunday, October 1st and will notified via PM by myself. NO emails will be sent at anytime in regards to this contest. Any emails you receive appearing to be from Vanguard Spheres staff are fake and should not be taken seriously.

So remember we want well thought out, well written posts that provoke debate about Vanguard and/or MMOs in general. We also expect that the original posters encourage people to keep posting in their threads by digging deeper into the topics as new opinions are expressed.

Above all KEEP IT CLEAN and FUN. We dont want this to devolve into a bunch of bickering and name calling. If you need some inspiration, take a look at the hot topics on the official forums and feel free to start up similar threads here.

Greetings to all. I have been briefly reading the post, but one caught my attention right away. I am an old old gamer and remember the MUDS quite well, as, the New GM pointed out, also played Horizons. But what I wonder now is this the same (person) who I spent hours and hours talking to about the future of Vanguard. At any rate I have been waiting for this for sometime.

On vgspheres in specific...must someone be 18 to win beta?...Im a bit concerned because I know of one site that you have to be 18 or older to win, yet sigil alows people (still waiting for someone from there to post in my thread though confirming it) to beta test under 18....
I would dearly appreciate someone that has a definite answer to this

Not sure who you are referring to Starlite. Could you explain what you are interested in a little clearer?

Im not aware of an age restriction to beta testing but I'll look into it for you.

lol, its allowed by sigil, I know for a fact it is...but there is one site that doesnt think so since they never stated so...oh well

and one question...the comtest is for the most constructive threads that peolpe look at and reply to...not the most constructive posts in response to the threads right?

Dont worry Im fairly certain from my research that being 18 is NOT required but I have an official request into Sigil about it.

The amount of response to a thread is considered but we're not judging how well those posts are written like we are judging how well the original post is written. Naturally if the responses are all yes/no answers then that doesnt really fit with the spirit of the contest so it probably wont win.
