It's Friday!
Ahh it's finally friday!
The only news I have for you fine people today is an MMORPG.com exclusive interview with President & Executive Producer, Jeff Butler and of course the Sigils PR Manager, April Jones at the Austin Game Conference 2006. The main topics of discussion at the conference were about the robust crafting, and in-depth diplomacy systems that are in place in the game. Enjoy the article and have a great weekend everybody!

Re: It's Friday!
TGIF! Was an interesting read on that site, I'm interested in the mini games of crafting and I'm not sure how magic the gathering plays out so the diplomacy explanation is totally lost on me, if anyone can break it down for me I'd be thankful. Either way it's sounding good, I never knew crafting was that independent before, that you could do crafting solely w/o adventuring.

Re: It's Friday!
Magic: The Gathering was a pretty complex card game for two people so I cant really go into it too deep or we'd be here forever. In short though it was a strategic turn based game where each player would build up their mana in several different pools and then use the mana to play other cards that used those pools. The first player to do 20 points of damage to the other player won the hand. There are literally thousands of different cards spread out across dozens of expansions in Magic: The Gathering.

Re: It's Friday!
I never Played Magic: The Gathering, but from what I have heard about it Sigil even metioning that diplomacy is kinda like it makes me giddy. If it is as in depth as what Magic was then it should be an excelent addition to the game. I do see myself utilising it as I am one of the people who log in for 30 minutes here and there. So this will give me something to do besides working on tradskills or soloing blues. (Didn't do that much after AoE was nerfed in EQ1 however. didn't seem a usfull time investment for the xp gain.)
Again, I am really looking forward to this game. Rao

Re: It's Friday!
Im excited about the needing to build up "faction" or "racial" points in the various races/cultures to get their recipies. Thats a great idea.
And the mini-games to get the various items to craft with sounds very in-depth and complex. Love that. Crafters needing to be diplomats - now that is perfect, the "dungeon cities" plays right into that concept. Taking it one step further - i wonder if there will be a master NPC blacksmith (for example) that you have to be extra nice to, do things for, etc.. to get the master recipie for your own racial pool of recipies. |
