I think I can feel beta lurking around the corner. After a long quiet period, which I attribute to buckling down and getting the work that needed to be done on Vanguard before beta could begin, the devs are again posting in a frenzy. I can only hope this means they are completing their part of making the beta happen and hopefully that we'll see it by the end of the month!

In other news, we've just relaunched our Lore section with a new format. Previously it was integrated into the forums but after using it a bit, we decided it wasnt very intuitive to navigate through. Take a look at the section now and be sure to comment in the Suggestions forum if you see any errors or things we can do to improve the section.

I wonder if they will do something similar to what SoE did... give out beta accounts to fan sites. Or will they be the only deciders of who gets into beta?

Not sure if they are giving Betas to fan sites, but when beta opens, they are opening passes to certain community members registered in their forums. (probably some long application that will root most people out, for various reasons)
I read something about them emailing persons when this came out, but this of course could be a small audience that they open the doors to.

Only time will tell.

I really liked how WoW did it, giving invites to fansites and guilds along side those who applied...gave it a nice blend of player types

There is no mention in the affiliated site process and no expectation from myself or any of the other Vanguard Spheres staff that we be issued beta invites because we run a fansite. The only beta qualification that has been confirmed by Sigil is that at some point they will select people from their registered userbase on the official forums.

This bums me out because I registered on the official forums a long time ago, never got the confirmation mail (no, it's not in my junk box), and never got a reply from the support folks regarding it. I have yet to be able to post there

Aye registering under a different name would probably be a good idea as right now that is the only path available to participate in the beta.

Well, when they send app's to each person in the forums, it could take a while to weed everyone out. I'm assuming they'll do it this way because they could have a little more control over target groups that partake in the testing.
