Actually, CK and I are talking about this in IM, and it just hit me...

What a really sweet deal for Sigil!! The company is made up of dreamers! Realists, but dreamers, nonetheless!! What better way to be able to dream than to let someone else worry about the yucky end of things...servers breaking, billing issues...littl stuff like that!

This is going to allow Sigil to continue their dreams and develop them so we can live them with Brad.

I'm starting to warm up to this a bit more as I read and consider things. Mordecaii puts a lot of things into the proper perspective, I think. I don't really have to like SoE to give Sigil my loyalty and, in the long run, money! SoE is the clearing house for all that administrative do-da nobody likes!

hehe...I just had a mental image of Ebenezer Scrooge standing on top of a pile of gold while the nephews run around and Donald is asleep in his recliner!

We cant change whats happened and maybe all will work out fine.

EQ1 and EQ2 are good - and i say good not great - games and are excellent examples of quality gameplay in a fantasy world. They are immersive and have good content that can hold a players attention in this go-get-em world of ours. Sony did a good job of creating these games.

Whether or not they charged for content they didnt deliver on till later....dont know about that and dont really care.

The marketing and advertising (insert any other adjective here) objectives have been fullfilled in this merger (change merger to whatever u want) in that Sony is good at selling to the masses.

If Vanguard can deliver the game, Sony will get it out to them. (and i gotta say adding it to the Station Access lineup is a great idea)

I didnt even hear about Vanguard untill someone told me about it in-game in EQ2.

So I just dont think this is a bad thing and we dont need to go overboard with (as was mentioned previously) a kneejerk reaction. Lets just see how this plays out.

On paper it is a good deal. A ruthless, high power, giant, International Corporation uses it's marketing and technical resources to sell and support a small companies product for almost nothing, just a few pence in Royalties. This is because Brad is friends with the boss.

Fair enough seems like a great deal for Brad. But for some reason it just seems a bit too much like a fairy story for an old cynic like me.

(I can't help but think that SOE is not going to do that great of a job in "helping" sigil during its infency. Most likely SOE will do all that it can to choke Sigil until they have to sell the game to SOE just so they can pay their employee's for their hard work and awsome effort. Then once SOE has control they will start really pushing the game with a great deal of effort, and then quickly running it into the crapper.)

(I am really not happy with this choice, but i am sure that there mushc ehave been a good reason if they desided to take all the stigma of going to SOE for help)
