Looking through the news sites that I normally skim over, I happened apon Lost Company's news blurbs. I'm not one to usually report news of other games on this site, since this is a Vanguard:Saga of Heroes site, But this piece of news has a slight connection to V:SoH. March 16th was the 7th birthday of the launch of EverQuest. Why do you say such an event is relavent to V:SoH? Well for all that didn't know, Brad "Aradune" McQuaid along with Steve Clover were the designers for the epic game that has lasted 7 years now. But, as Brad has stated in his OVF post, It was actually 10 years ago - March 4, 1996 - that they started working on development of the game! We can only hope that V:SoH will outlast EverQuest and make Brad an even prouder Papa in the Gaming Industry! So, going with the spirit of things, here is a few things that happened this day in history: 1766 After four months of widespread protest in America, the British Parliament repeals the Stamp Act, a taxation measure enacted to raise revenues for a standing British army in America. 1850 Henry Wells & William Fargo forms American Express in Buffalo 1865 Congress of Confederate States of American adjourns for last time 1881 [PT] Barnum & [James A] Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth opens (Madison Square Garden) 1891 Britain is linked to the continent by Telephone 1925 The worst tornado in U.S. history passes through eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, and southern Indiana, killing 695 people, injuring some 13,000 people, and causing $17 million in property damage. Known as the "Tri-State Tornado," the deadly twister began its northeast track in Ellington, Missouri, but southern Illinois was the hardest hit. More than 500 of the total 695 people who perished were killed in southern Illinois, including 234 in Murphrysboro and 127 in West Frankfort. 1929 General Motors (GM) announced its plans to acquire Opel AG, one of Germany's largest car companies. 1947 GM founder William C. Durant dies in New York City at the age of 85. 1965 Rolling Stones fined £5 each for public urination Famous Birthdays: 1483 Raphael painter (Sistine Madonna) 1858 Rudolph C K Diesel German engineer (Diesel motor) 1920 John Paul II [Karol Wojtyla], Poland, Pope (1978-2005) Famous Deaths: 1882 Morgan Earp brother of Wyatt Earp, shot and killed while playing billiards in Tombstone 1976 James McCartney father of Paul McCartney, dies at 73 Enjoy your day everyone!
