A quiet interlude

This morning much of the Vanguard community is still in mourning over the loss of Keith Parkinson but there are some uplifting ray's of light to note. Aradune has put up a truly moving tribute to Keith on the OVF's that everyone should take the time to read. The tribute introduces Keith to us as his friends knew him and shows us his quality as a person and professional. I for one truly regret never having the chance to meet Keith in person but know I can get close just by continuing to appreciate his work.

In other news, the results of the Vanguard Fan Art contest have been delayed. The new winner will be announced on Nov 4th, 2005. Oloh of Silky Venom has put up a post about his experiences in Beta 0/1. In the post Oloh talks about stances and some of the mechanics of playing a warrior in a midlevel group. Its an exciting dose of secret sauce to tide us over till the next serving. Eclipse, also of Silky Venom has put up a companion piece entitled "Vanguard: The Gathering" which draws comparisons between Vanguards combat system and Magic: The Gatherings combat system. Its an interesting read to be sure. Stratics and [i]Tentonhammer]/i] both have a new piece of fan fiction by Kaeltyk and Larynn respectively. Both pieces are quite well done and worth a look. Finally Vanguard Fighters has stopped tanking entries to their logo contest and has posted the candidates for consideration. Head on over and cast your vote in their forums today!
