Vanguard Spheres is proud to bring you a one-two punch of musical sekret sauce! I was recently able to pose a few questions to Vanguard’s Audio Designer and Composer Todd Masten regarding the game and its sound. In response, he offered a great view into everything from the next advances in game audio to his personal studio setup, including a few words about how great it has been to work closely with the development team. Be sure to check out the
interview!
As an added bonus, Todd also released to us an
exclusive music clip! It is entitled
Steppes of the Sunset and features a beautiful collection of Asian instruments including the erhu (Chinese fiddle), leading me to believe that the clip may be our first aural glimpse into the lands of Kojan. (This is purely speculation and has not been confirmed by Sigil, but the cultural influences are hard to deny.) Thanks for spending some time with us Todd!
A discussion about the interview and music has been started in
this thread. If you haven’t already, we would love it if you could take the time to
register and leave a few words. It only takes a few minutes. Enjoy!
Also this morning a new batch of screenshots has made an appearance on the official Vanguard site and XVanguard, the newest affiliate site. In the
first shot we can see a beautiful long distance shot of Ahgram. The
second shot gives us a wider more detailed view of Leth Nurae and the
final shot shows us a never before seen Treant These screenshots look even better than the last set and we're not even sure if the lighting and anti-aliasing system is complete yet! XVanguards shots are that of an adventurer with two beautiful
sheathed swords and a very immersive shot of an
undead battle. The mist in the undead battle looks especially good.
Finally Raya, formerly of Silky Venom fame, has reappeared on Tentonhammer with her article entitled "
Two different worlds we live in". In the article Raya delves into the topic of secondary market sales of ingame items. She goes on to explain that IGE is not the only major player in the secondary market these days and that the problem could be worsening. Enjoy the article.
