To grief or not to grief

Jasarina over at TenTonHammer has put up an article entitled "Griefing… Is it in your game? In her article, Jasarina touches on many of the different ways people can be griefed in todays MMO and explores some of the possible causes for griefing and how it can be reduced.

We've launched a new section of the site here at Vanguard Spheres. The Fan Fiction section is now online for our readers who would like to submit Vanguard related stories. If you would like to contribute please contact me after submitting your story so I can moderate it before it goes live. Our first submission, written by Amoonsinas, is entitled "The Entrance" and represents the first of several chapters of her story that will be published over time. Great story Amoonsinas!

Tyger, one of the OVF members, has also put up his review of the PAX convention from last month. You can find the full thread here. Andir another OVF member has posted a PVP vs PVE poll in this thread. Its currently showing a 75/25% split in favor of PVE. Head on over and cast your vote!

We've also gotten word that the October Fanguard has been cancelled. Here's what Cindy Bowens had to say about it.

There were two reasons we had to make this decision. First of all we had to really consider the expenses. For a group this size, it was quite a challenge to come up with space and make arrangements that we could afford. The second reason is our schedule during this time. As we tried to hammer out the details for this event, it became very apparent that very few of our team would be able to attend. Right now, everyone here is focused on Beta and getting the game ready to ship.

So that's it. At this point, we cannot host an event in October without it being too much of a drain on our financial resources and our manpower. We are all very disappointed but we know that you would rather our focus be on making Vanguard the best it can be during this very crucial phase of development.

We are looking forward to doing another fan event soon, most likely the first of next year. I am very sorry we can't host one now. I was really looking forward to it. But we have to make sure the timing is right for these things and that they don't impact our production schedule. And that just couldn't be worked out this time.

So watch for the next event after the first of the year. In the meantime, we will be working hard to get Vanguard ready for you.
