Well the thing that excites me most is that all classes seem to have particularities, not only healers. Two characters of a same class can be very differents.

Re: New Sauce on Cleric, Shaman & Disciple

Nah, I was a night elf It was so SO awkward playing the tallest (Alliance) race in the game, after having just quit FFXI where I was the absolute shortest. But I couldn't stand WoW's gnomes. (Yet still ended up playing a Gnome Warrior to 47 or so. Oof.)

I did have several adventures as a tauren female and troll male... But they never got anywhere past the 20's.

Re: New Sauce on Cleric, Shaman & Disciple

Yay for Disciples making it into beta! ^_^

There's one thing that has me confused, though. About the shaman. From the descriptions from Fanguard, it sounded like the different spirits were something all shaman could switch between. But the way he describes it now, you can only pick one.

Was the explanation at Fanguard many gave incorrect, or is it possible everyone can use all spirit "forms" just folks specialize in one, or is it that they have changed it as part of the efforts to keep shaman from being overpowered? I was somewhat looking forward to shamans being able to switch between play styles, but it sounds now like you have to choose your playstyle when you do the vision quest.

Re: New Sauce on Cleric, Shaman & Disciple

You know, I'm honestly not certain. It might have existed the switchy way previously while they created the vision quests. If not, then it's probably a victim of vague information.

While there's no concrete information, we do have icons to look at.

The bubbles on the top of the hotbar are the Shaman "stances" that a mid-40s Shaman had available

It's a bit blurry, but the icons look like:

(Casting) (Nuking) (Disease[Fly]) (Fish?) (Badger/Wolf?)

The spell icons look like: Attack toggle, several melee attacks, a lightning spell, a heal, a debuff/poison, etc.

Now this is just an assumption, but the only stance that looks like an actual "spirit form" looks like the last one, the badger/wolf type creature.

Actually at this stage they are pretty much committed, sure they can still pull out or introduce a class they can play with parameter based variables but the basic game mechanics it set in stone.

In every game I have Beta tested they have done minor tweaks to game play and major bug fixes. If a game is crap at the start of public beta testing it will be crap when released. Horizons was a good example .. All the major short comings we found in beta are still evident today. They never sorted out Ac2's rubberbanding problems. This is because the big problems always relate to the game engine limitations. Vanguards decision to use Unreal was brilliant.

Finished rewriting it. Thankfully that shouldnt be as big of a problem moving forward since Sigil is up to date with their vBulletin software now. Aradune is up to date and the other devs will update by 6am.

Yup. Beta = Feature Freeze. Changing everything is only "allowed" during alpha or even pre-alpha releases, at least as far as software terminology goes. Open Beta must be some kind of Release Candidate, then.

Yeah, that was a very smart move even though it's not the same engine at all now with all the tweaks and stuff.

Cool, I really like the Dev Tracker. Glad it's back.
