Possible Bug with Arid Trees
I think there is a bug with the rate of Arid Trees that show up. I know they are supposed to be rare but I've been lumberjacking for 15 hours straight at Tier 3 and gone the whole time without seeing a single Arid Tree. No matter how rare they are supposed to be, that can't be intended because that is rare to the point of absurdity and is acting as a monumental bottleneck to the creation of boats which by their own admission are supposed to be one of the main ways we get around once the teleporters are removed. As it stands right now it is almost impossible to get enough Arid Trees to build a boat. Considering they want us to use boats, it stands to reason that while it would take some time to get all the materials, it should not be this difficult, especially for the first/smallest of the boats. I know they claim to have tweaked the rate of rare drops recently for harvesting but frankly, at least with lumberjacking, I have not noticed a bit of difference.

Re: Possible Bug with Arid Trees
as i see it there is no bugs with this considering there are 3 ways of obtaining the arid in game
way 1 lumber jacking - this is one of the easiest ways yes it is a pain in the ass to get the rare but honestly it sould not be something obtained easily if it is supposed to be rare way 2 Work Orders - i think it is a 1 in 50 when doing batch workorders but hay you got to do them any way way 3 carpenters deconstructing wooden weapons - yes this is the essayist way to get your arid may cost you 1 gold to get all 5 you need to build a boat but meh sometimes you have to pay to get what you want look at the bows there not to easy to make ither a boat is a privilege not a need, there is public transportation provided to take you from continent to continent as well there is always the option of swimming i am pretty shure they made it this way so it is a little callange to obtain a boat just like a house if your on thunder axe and want a ride somewhere send me a tell "Roxen" i will give you a lift but honestly i personaly think it is to easy to obtain arid and should not increse the drop rate for lumber jacking. the primory use for lumber jacking in T3 is to get Dry timber well i am done ![]() |

Have you noticed a difference in droprate on the Test server Anise? Keep in mind thats the only thing we should be discussing here so folks dont get confused between whats live and whats on test.

Re: Possible Bug with Arid Trees
I can't speak for the test server as there aren't nearly enough people on to properly judge it but it seems to me like they have anti-farming code in. I've noticed often on Florendyl when I go to a new area that is rarely visited, there is a much better chance of being a rare there.
So you say, geck, but that just means no one harvested it 'cause no one was there to do so! But what are the chances of it popping on the first pop if it's that rare? It seems like when a place is not populated, rare things will spawn in it, including named mobs and resources. Weird, huh? |

Re: Possible Bug with Arid Trees
Are there any tips or tricks for actually finding trees to harvest? skinning seems to be the easiest since you can kill almost anything to skin. Mining is blatantly obvious when you find it that it is a mining node. Trees tho, Only thing i have come up with so far is running from tree to tree and seeing if the harvest icon comes up. There is lettering waay above at the top of the tree, but if there are other trees around, as well as being a small character, very hard to see.

Re: Possible Bug with Arid Trees
Not an exploit, just a more specific instance of the more general TargetNextNode command that can be mapped to a key (or in my case the middle mouse button). I find it extremely useful to spam this and the targetNextNPC commands while traveling.

Re: Possible Bug with Arid Trees
I have found finding rares from killing trenants and harvesting those mobs quite easy, usually a rare will be harvestable 1 in 50 or so trenants (Walking Trees).
On the macro side of life, yes /targetauto keyword will target any item that can be targetted with that keyword in it. The thing is, it works like a sticky target, so in the case of targetting a "Node of Tin" using /targetauto tin will target the tin node. The problem occurs when you run off to find the next node, hence what I call sticky node targetting, when you hit the hotkey with the macro again it will keep sticking to the last node you havested "Remains of Node of Tin" until it decays even if you run right upto a new node of tin. I have devised a workaround which bases itself on trying to located any new node between your last harvested target and the next one you are looking for which has been working brilliantly for me. The follow 5 commands in a text created macro I called "Find Tin" /cleartarget (Clears target) /autotarget tin (Node you are looking for, most like will retarget your last node) /targetnextnode (Tries to find any new node between your last harvest and new node of tin you are looking for, if this node is tin anyway, bingo) /autotarget tin (reattempts to target a new node of tin if in the vacinity if the next node command picked up a different node to move the sticky target from the old harvested node) /autotarget nickel (Will move to the rare node for tin (Nickel Ore) first if sound in the vacinity. If there is no nickel this command will not change the new target of tin it has just located) Hope this helps. One thing to point out though, if a player by the name of Tinman runs into your area, the macro will continue to target the player Tinman until they move out of your harvestting area. Also if you are going to use more than one word on the /autotarget command then you must use " " ..so ..... /autotarget "Node of Tin" Take Care, Shadowsniper ![]() Last edited by Shadowsniper : 03-27-2007 at 09:34 PM. |
