So, I want to pimp this forum in game ... which would involve occasionally pasting a link into regionsay. My dilemma. I hate spammers, so here is my question, I guess :

1) Is it cool to try and get more people to cruise this forum by spitting the link out in game?

2) How often would be appropriate for advertising this site?

I have seen some people plugging other sites, particularly in the craft channel. However, I find it more distracting than informative, personally. This is, of course, only my opinion, but I would say don't advertise unless someone specifically asks for information sites.

My sentiments exactly. Please don't just randomly spam. If someone has questions, or asks for a helpful site/community, feel free to plug Vanguard Spheres, and thank you! We definitely appreciate you spreading the word in an unobtrusive way, and are glad you are enjoying the community here enough to want to promote us in-game.

I'll second what Keth said! In fact, I did that last night when someone asked a question our Wiki has the answer to. I just said that they should look it up, and that the Affiliates, like VS, had those answers, and pretty much left it at that.

One of the biggest turnoffs to me is guilds spamming for membership and "advertising" in /shout, in general. We don't have a guild attached to us for that reason, nor do we want to hear our name being spammed out to the masses, but it's a nice thought that you do want to give us the publicity. Thank you, as Keth said!

I admit I did a wee bit of Vanguard Radio plugging in the late stages of Beta in OOC, mainly because we needed to get the word out of what we were doing for the community. My feedback was all positive, though. I got many tells from people thanking me for it, and telling me how much they enjoyed the music and event coverage, so that justified itself a little.

Yeah, I've seen people ask for a good community site, and if I have the time to type I plug VS and leave it at that. I really hate the amount of guild spam and such right now, and don't wanna support that kind of promotion.
