How to form a guild?

How do I form a guild? Is it by emailing Sigil? If so then when will Sigil implement an in-game function so that we can form guilds without having to email (like EQ2 and WoW)?

Re: How to form a guild?

In Beta you had to email Sigil until sometime in Open Beta the Guild Registrars were added to the cities. You will now have to buy a Guild Charter from a Merchant and get in a group of six and go see the Guild Registrar to form the guild.

Re: How to form a guild?

Guild registrars are vendors in major cities, I found the one in Leth Nurae in the Palace foyer. It works like this. You buy a guild "Charter" from the NPC for some amount (1 silver in beta) then form a full group of people (6). The leader uses the item. The group leader becomes the Guild Leader and the rest of the group becomes officers.

This was the beta mechanic that I saw and may be subject to change.

Re: How to form a guild?

Seems to be a bug currently when you try and form a guild. I have a full group click on the guild book, input the name of the guild click ok and it does nothing. Any ideas?

Re: How to form a guild?

I believe, from an experience on the last day of beta, that your group all have to be in the same location, which I think works as it did in EQ2. I tried to join a guild-forming group to help out some people in Tanvu (I was in Ca'ial), and they couldn't get it done till they got a full group all in the same place.

Another reason might be that it's just not accepting your name and not telling you so. Any special characters? Any potentially reserved or prohibited words?

Note also that the General Goods vendors used to sell vastly-inflated guild charters - something like 50s, whereas the ones on the Guild Registrars were a much more reasonable 2 or 5s. Since they cleaned out the GGVs that may not be an issue anymore - and if you have 50s within a couple of hours of live-up, I want to know your secret!!

Good luck all of you making guilds - if you can't get the folks you need I'd be happy to lend a hand, regardless of server. (As in EQ2, people helping to create a guild don't need to stick around once it's made, unless they changed that and didn't mention it since the end of beta.)

Hi Waax!

Ysharros now that you mention it, I think you are correct about having to be in the same chunk to do this.

Unhappy Re: How to form a guild?

We are having some problems too! You don't have to be right next to the registrar, at least that was the case in beta. Also I have heard that 8 zones/chunks is the distance limit on grouping. Here I quote myself in an email to Sigil customer support. Unfortunately I got an undeliverable message, so I have yet to communicate the problem other than /bug:
Quote:
Attempted to create a guild Friday night. People in the game said if you /who yourself and it shows "unknown class" & "level 0" that you are bugged. This prevents one from creating a guild and also using /petition.

I made someone else a group leader and he was able to create the guild(character name Sunny, don't know his station name, most likely **** or ****). However, all of us with surnames did not get the guild tag. Sunny then invited one at a time into guild using the interface and I got the tag. In the guild window it showed me in the guild but offline and level 0(I was level 6 at the time). Also for some others, surname didn't seem to come into play here.

I relogged and came back into the world without the guild tag or access to guild chat channel. I was reinvited into the guild and now the guild window showed 2 entries for Gillfrei, lvl 0, and offline.

I tried /guildquit. No effect. Relogged all the way to desktop. Reinvited and now I have 3 offline entries in the guild window!

I hope this gets cleared up as I'm suppsed to be the guild leader. Will try a petition in game, however if something can be done so I'm not unkown class and level 0 with /who, please have a GM contact me in game.

This is really important to me at this time.
-----------------------UPDATE Sunday 28th-------------
I was able to get my main into the guild. Must do a /who <yourself> and it must show correctly or no use inviting. Even after joining the guild successfully you must /quit when switching characters or you might come back not in guild. However, if you /quit and relog everything is OK.

I can confirm this has worked for several people including myself.
