It depends on whether or not using the public groups will slow down the rest of the site since there will be so many security checks going on for each page. Past that the first part of the site to launch will be the guild summary pages. Each guild leader will be able to update the pages with things like a brief description of the guild, its goals, the time zone it operates in, a link to any official site it might already have, whether they are recruiting or not, who the recruitment official to contact is if they are, how long they have existed, a charter, etc. Not too long after thats in place a sortable roster system will go in place which Im hoping to be able to have automatically export to a php page running on guilds local sites if they so choose. Other possibilities include DKP modules, complete guild hosting, etc. Theres quite a number of possiblities that completely revolve around what our forum members want and what I can figure out how to build. I have my database schema in place already and just need to start coding the php pages. Unforunately thats what I havent had time to do for the last two weeks straight now.
That sounds pretty much like the system my WoW guild is using, but tailored for V:SoH. The one my guild uses is actually made so that it will work for all kinds of games, and hence it kind of sucks.

The big question, for me, is if V:SoH will allow any kind of data exports through UI mods or some other mechanism. Can you imagine the possibilities if Sigil let us have XML feeds with stuff from the game?

The impression we've gotten thus far is that they arent going to allow it which is both good and bad. Bad for us who want to build legit tools with the data like guild management etc. Good for the game so we dont have Thottbots sucking the game dry.

I don't know yet if I will be joining a french guild, but the fact that there won't be french servers (at launch at least) makes of joining a European guild an option.
Roleplaying in english is really hard for me.

I'm definitly interested by you Greymain and your Grey company.

Re: Tgc

Well, something like Thottbot would be limited to whatever information they choose to make available. In the end, we'll use the options available to us - it's about playing the game, after all.

Re: Tgc

I would be more than happy to use The Grey Company as a test on this forum. Once the official Vanguard Forums disappear I expect an influx of new users on the affiliated sites. The option to run your guild through Vanguard Spheres could be a big draw.

They will be closing it down at release. There should be a few posts in the Dev Tracker from Abigale and Glip regarding that.

Aww... What a shame. On the other hand, though, this will actually mean that people will have to get involved in communities such as this fine one - that's not bad.

And, look at what the WoW forums have degenerated to... There are some good posts, yes, but it's mostly crap. Stuff like class guides and stuff belongs on sites like this anyways.

Re: Tgc

I can't say that the official Vanguard Forums are anything I hold in high regard. It seems like most "official forums" have such a high influx of posters with very little to say that not only do the forums have little to no sense of community, but they hardly remain civil. While the OVF has been moderated more successfully than most, I'd much rather participate in communities like this one.

Re: Tgc

Aye the OVFs were great back before 10k registered users. Now that they are over 50k posters its rather hard to keep up with them.
