LFGuild
Hello everyone,
Ive looked at some of the guild bio's some are done very well, while others are lacking in detail. I will be joining Vangaurd and ive played EQ for over 5+ years and alot of other MMO's some ive liked some i didnt. I recently got married and im working full time, im a gamer and love to play MMO's. I can play almost any character or class that is available i adapt well to random encounters and do very well in raids. Is there a guild out there more family orientated that still raids and can still group together joke around and have fun, without being demanding on raid times if a family issue should arise? If so either reply to me on here or please email me if you want to know more about my expertise (wakygreek@yahoo.com) -Niko |

Re: LFGuild
I look for a guild that understands some of us actually live outside of our online personas. I want them to understand that I have a wife, two kids, and I am in the military and there are times when I just can't get online. If a guild can understand these situations, then that is the guild for me.

Re: LFGuild
Yeah...I like people who are there for you when you need some help, work as a team, and understand that its a game and that rl does come first in most cases and that people cant ALWAYS be online when people want em to be. Now Im not talking about people logging in once a week, but if you do have to go away for a few weeks...theyll still have a spot for ya...and if your child needs help with homework...understanding that he/she comes first.
Cooperation, Keeping it fun, Understanding, and a level of commitment are all key aspects for me. |

Re: LFGuild
I think you'll see more and more of those types of guilds popping up over the next few years. The gamer population is aging, I know I cant play the same way I used to and most of my guildmates cant either.

Re: LFGuild
I was only ever part of one guild when i played EQ, but was fairly small. It managed to keep the game fun, mostly it was a place to look for group partners with the ocasional guild meeting to do something like a tournament among the members with a prize for the winner. I liked that guild, as a guild we didn't have any requirements among each other, we were mostly just a large community of like minded players who knew each other a bit better then all the other players. That type of guild is what i would really want in a guild. It was a shame when i went away for the summer to find when i got back it didn't make it, was a little too small, and most people back then wanted to do bigger things then just hang around and have fun, it was more of a RP'ing guild i guess, which is what i liked most about it, and would look forward to in this game.

Re: LFGuild
As far as some of the replies to my original thread are very important and valid responses. As Pirotess mentioned the avg gamer is getting older, i mean sure there are still younger gamers and that will always be the case but now that gaming is reaching a much more broader age-range i think its important for MMORPG's to take that into consideration and for guilds to as well.
Q: Out of curiousity again if this was already answered i apologize ahead of time for the repeat, but is Vanguard doing anything for the gamers that cannot make it on everyday but still wish to play with there friends that do? Will there be like a +% exp bonus in specific situations like that are available in other MMO's? I love playing MMO's and its kind of annoying when you play all weekend and then you only play 1-2 hours maybe everynight during the week after work, and then you see your friends that you grped with on the weekend (same level at that time) again and they are level 45 and your only level 30 the following weekend. -Niko Last edited by Wakygreek : 10-03-2006 at 02:34 PM. |

Re: LFGuild
Vanguard has an idea to help with the prob the last two posters have mentioned. This is directed pasted from recent updates of the official faq
- 4.16 What is this Fellowship system? The general idea is that there are some people who have close friends they want to group with but also have different amounts of time they can commit to playing an MMOG. The Fellowship system is for these people to whom staying together is so important that they will sacrifice some of their own experience to give to these close friends so they *can* stay relatively together in terms of level. Bottom line for me is that as long as someone is earning the exp, I don't mind it shared in a controlled manner (e.g. mindful of potential exploits) and such that there's no 'free lunch'. That said, I realize it's a controversial subject. We'll mess with it in beta and if it's something that just doesn't pan out, we'll pull it (though I have high hopes for it). A group of friends would form a persistent social construct called a Fellowship. Then, say there were 3 in the Fellowship, but only 2 were logged on, a percentage of the exp earned by the 2 would go to the third such that his level was kept at or near his 2 friends. There's no free lunch, because the people online earning exp end up having to earn the exp for themselves and the offline person. We plan on experimenting with this system (and other ideas involving offline advancement) in beta. (This answer is courtesy of Silky Venom) Here is a link to an active post on the subject http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/sh...ght=fellowship I hope they can work it into the game although the potential abuses give me pause. Every game brings with it the challenge of finding a guild to fit a players needs. Brad McQuaid is aware and actively working on this dynamic like so many things. Another is he is considering a way of allowing a single character to be in several guilds at the same time. You will no doubt be able to find lots of guilds to suit your needs at release. The trick for most will be deciding what part or parts you want to focus on in Vanguard Last edited by Akenes : 10-04-2006 at 01:55 AM. |

Re: LFGuild
I realize this reply is a bit late but I was curious if any of the people on this thread that are interested in finding a more mature, family style guild are still looking? I am a guild leader for a guild that has a crafting style focus, and we are a understanding, thoughtfull group, most all of us have families. We understand the issues that cause us to not be able to spend every minute of our time online.
When we are online together though we function well and tend to have great amounts of fun. If any of you are still looking please feel free to drop by my guild thread and read the info and see if we might be for you. Guild thread located here: http://www.vanguardspheres.com/forum...-bal-goth.html
