Re: LFGuild

I've played many games and have joined numerous guilds. My "Ideal Guild" is one that plays together and does their upmost to enjoy the game. Need before Greed. Helping new members along w/info and occasional items but not POWER LEVEL them. Was into my third year on Eq before I joined a Guild and that was only after I had observed them for a number of months.

Re: LFGuild

Back in eq I only was in one "family" type guild before long I moved on to bigger guilds to gain access to end game content. I know in vsoh not much will change and I will be back into mmorpg's , hopefully I can find a guild that wants to raid yet doesn't make it a job. Large guilds that raid end game have the tendency to make it a second job being so serious about what's happening in the raid that they hold on tighter than a fist, which can be stressful. I don't care if my guild is a pvp guild or not I will still pvp on my own I can take care of that aspect by myself without having to have a whole guild behind me. Will be interesting to see how guilds form up in vsoh. I can appreciate roleplaying guilds but they aren't my primary interest, perhaps it would of been if I wouldn't of let part of my child like imagination go...:-(. One of my main foci will be to find some EST timezone people who play I know one for sure already, which is cool.

Re: LFGuild

I didn't vote, all those are important, but to me a responsible and great guild leader makes a guild fun and enjoyable.

In WoW I was on the server Stormreaver in a guild called "Foo" under leadership of Joebane. That was the best guild i've been in in any game i've played in the past...he was understanding yet didn't take any bullshit.

It's all about leadership.

Feel free to take a look at our guild. We're a friends and family guild that have been around since 1999 and are comprised of most of the characteristics in this thread.

Re: LFGuild

IMO I Guess I don't feel that its the guilds job so much to make the game 'fun' for people. Most games have plenty of fun, you just have to know where to look for it. Conversely I feel it IS the guilds higher ups purpose to make changes that the members prefer or need. The grouping would be nice, but I guess I think its more the players job to try to find guild members his/her own level to group with within the guild first, then try outside. Kind of difficult for a guild to pick and choose people based on who is what level simply for others to group with.

Re: LFGuild

I know as soon as I say this that my history will be called into doubt concerning me and maybe .... it is me. Dunno. But, at 55 irl the thing that ruins more guild experiances for me then anything else is when personal things creep into the game. I think the younger folks in Wow called it EMO. Things start out great, many times, server leads are achieved. But, slowly personal life stuff creeps in on voice chat channels and tells and bingo the game experiance starts to degrade.
For me est would be perfect I live in Fla. Additionally some daytime activities dureing the week would even be sweeter. Starting raids at 8 pm est and finishing them at 3 plus am is way over my head now days, but ya know if you started at 11 am and went untill 8 or 9 pm that would be my ideal zones. Even if it is 7 days a week as I will likely play that anyway.
please feel free to respond to this as I wont take anything personal. After all you don't really know me and I don't really know you, we just meet in this great escape.
Peace

Re: LFGuild

I'm in a type of "preformed" guild, so to speak. We don't have a website, we don't have a charter or application and we aren't recruiting. We're just a group of friends from EQ2 who are planning on playing Vanguard together and will probably form a guild based on that friendship.

We'll have all of the structure etc at some point before/after creation, but for now we're just happily anticipating the game. We'd like to wait until launch and actually stepping foot in game before we start setting regulations. Will be easier when it's not all based on speculated gameplay.
