Re: Vanguard Review
Preety good review.
Most reviews miss either some or all of the angles that might make an mmorpg attractive to others, I'm thinking of role players and dedicated crafters here. While those two sub communities arent huge they tend to squat on a game and play it forever if it isnt radically altered. Right now die hard crafters dont have many choices and Vanguard has a preety good crafting system with rewards that are valuable. Vanguard has a lot of features attractive to role players as well, a large world, a wide selection of items (props), a fantasy realism artistic direction as well as diplomacy (which is limited at release but holds a lot of potential for expanding, what is, in essence, an advanced flag / faction system.) There are also the simmers. They want a simulated world experience and games like WoW and the soon to be released Lotro have little that appeals to them. I think VG (despite its faults) is as close to a simulated fantasy world since UO. |
