Where is the race thread?
I couldn't find a thread category for races and I'm sorry if I did in fact miss it.
Anyways, I wanted to point out that for defensive casters a lot of races just don't match up if you want a race that just ownz at healing. The only race that gives +3 vit per lvl is the goblin while all other races (from what I saw when making a healer) only have 1 or 2 (if even that) and other stats that really don't matter. I think this is a problem but that's just my two cents. Also, how does everyone feel about their choices for races when it comes to being a defensive caster? I picked a goblin race because I wanted to be a disciple and heal really well. So far it is really working out well but then again I am kos from pretty much everyone which I really didn't want. If you have anything to say I really would like the feedback (I'm currently working on interesting race / class combinations for healers). |

Re: Where is the race thread?
I'm going crazy with my dwarven cleric (pumping attribute points into int/wis for added damage and stuff) but I have found the best non goblin casters to be gnomes (primarily offensive casters). You have to realize that sometimes trading off a point in WIS for some VIT or INT may not be bad... depending on your play style....
I use the wiki when trying to min/max a class (Hi. I'm Naiya. I'm a powergaming Roleplayer. Welcome to the nightmare. Not only can I min max the class, I can come up with RP reasons for those choices.) I *highly* recommend the wiki. When I do it I have it open to three different pages (yea tabbed browsing) 1.) Racial Attributes Chart 2.) KOS List 3.) The particular class I am looking at this helps me make informed decisions when making a character. sometimes I bite the bullet and make a non-optimized toon - but those decisions can be made by using all this information **Edit** As an aside - My disciple is a kojani human - LOVE HER

Re: Where is the race thread?
As far as stats go, I think you're always better off with one of the human races. These races allow much more flexibility in the distribution of stats over all of the stat choices than the non human races do.
I don't know why they did that. Maybe they thought that everyone would want to be a furry or orc or goblin and so they needed to give some incentive for choosing the human races. |

Quote:
In the end, all races have the same number of attribute points (14) it's just the non human ones give the player the option of making a *well-rounded* one by allowing the allocation of ALL 14 points rather than assigning 4 of them for you What you have to look at when you create a character is whether you want to solo or team, twink or not, pigeon hole or have options. Equipment can make almost any build viable, even those that seem to be "contrary" to the races nature For instance, I have a level 18 Thestran bard (strictly one half of a duo). I put 5 points every level into STR and DEX. The other 4 points I put into VIT. Every piece of gear I have adds to my STR and DEX. (and most to HP) As a result - my bard is GREAT DPS but cannot sustain herself in a long fight (go go paladin teammate!). I may have a better STR than the dwarven tank, but I'm pigeoned holed that way. I can't sustain myself in a long fight were it not for him. The same goes for my 20 dwarven cleric (strictly solo toon). When all is said and done (yea URT armor/weapon quests and an offhand focus item) she will have a +107 healing focus. She will out heal the best of them... she just can't deal damage worth a crap I may not kill them quickly, but I will still live longer than they doOnce you have a solid picture of what you want to accomplish, then you will know how to put your character together. It's all a matter of knowing your playstyle and finding the race/class combo you like the most

Re: Where is the race thread?
it's nice when you choose a race that gets attributes where you need them. humans have the flexibility, but you can only put up to 5 points per lvl, where if someone automatically gets 3 points in vit each lvl, they can also put 4 more points on it for a total of 7 vit per lvl.
