Spell resists...
Are spell resists too high? Playing as my lvl 16 necro fighting lvl 16/17 2 dot mobs I often get my dot type spells resisted 3 or 4 times per mob. Our snare spell torment 2 also gets resisted but I can undestand that since if it was no fail we could basically kill anything we could land it on with little chance of death.
However having said that when you get the 2 dot mob up to 1 lvl higher than yourself down to 4 levels below you resisting your damage spells regularly I think there is a problem. If us cloth caster types get into melee range its often over in very short order. We rely on our spells to do damage and we need them to work. Burning a full mana bar because of resists to kill an even or lower con 2 dot mob just doesnt seem right. Perhaps the resists are a tad high and need to be tweaked a bit? Thoughts anyone? Devs? regards |

Re: Spell resists...
I believe it's INt, or Wis that determines if your spells are resisted alot, against even and under, then there is level difference. fighting reds and purples in a group as a sorc I seen alot of resists, but that goes with the territory. Also the resist type of the spell and the mobs defense against.
Maybe you found a grouping of creatures that are highly resistant to physical (?) based spell damage. Found a group of totally immune to fire mobs last night.. oddly my cold spell didn;t do any extra damage.... |

Re: Spell resists...
Another factor is skill level. The skill for roots is notoriously slow to level.

Re: Spell resists...
I think certain spells (or spell lines) have higher base resist percent. Or lower, as well. Snares and Roots, even with max casting skill, tend to bounce off mobs like water on rock for the most part. But simple debuffs (-Str/Con, slows, etc) seem to stick on with little resists, even when the casting skill is lower than max.
Of course, its possible that a dev may have contradicted this somewhere, but those are my findings.
