Noted. The incorrect information has been removed and I have modified the sentance to reflect a possable option.

However, I only stated I am not a fan of the /testbuff option, and just so everyone knows I only played on EQ1 Test for a few weeks in early 2000 so if I have mistated the "good o'le days" I beg forgivness.

Mostly I played on Sullon hence the Sig.

One issue I don't think has been brought up yet is the fact that this game is, like it or not, a grind. I think that this will be no different from live servers in that Characters will not be wiped. They did this in EQ1 and they realized the mistake and has never happened since so I don't see it happening now.

I am also 99% sure that this will be a normal server. In time there will be a good community but depending on the support that is received from Sigil will determine the size of it because no matter what they say there will have to be at least a limited amount of CS that come over for players when we are having a problem. Also on this note Good QA personal makes or breaks the server in that if they are very interactive in the community then there is a lot of fixes going on. On EQ2 Test we had a 90% bug squash rate but when our good QA personal left I'm quite sure it dropped down because of the lack of communication.(some problems must be shown 1st. hand and not just /bugged)

I hope they don't wipe players. I want to make test my main server. Just don't want to have to keep redoing everything.

Well I have time on my hands and am hoping to join the test community if there is going to be one. At the moment I haven't found a guild I want to join..and have been playing on live with friends that probably are not going to stay ingame. I tested VG for a little over 5 months when it was in beta, and I still would like to support it in that way if I may.

I too would be curious as to how this will be set up on test...ie: regular test gaming community or what ever.

At the moment, experience seems to be the same as on live, including the 2x bonus. Not sure if it'll stay doubled after reboot or not.

I really think they should have two test servers:

Normal Test Server
This functions almost identical to a normal live server. Players start at level 1, gain XP at the same rate, with the only difference being they are using the new changes the devs are implementing.

"Unit Testing" Test Server
This is a server that is used to test specific scenarios or content. Players should be able to make a character at any level they wish. Basic gear for the players level should be available for free from a vendor, with "elite" gear only available from the vendor if the devs need to test it.

Characters should be wiped once a week at a minimum.

This server serves two purposes
- it allows the devs to get targetted feedback on the things they are working on: ie: "changed mob pathing in <dungeon x>" or "added new level 50ish quests to <chunk y>"
- it allows players to test and re-test problems they have noticed while playing on live or the normal test server. If you notice a bug with a quest at level 42, you can easily retest this quest over and over with different chars, etc.

After playing Vanguard for about a week and only getting my character to level 10 (damned diplomacy! ) it makes me wonder how a test community could thrive in this game. As those of us from EQ2 test know it is very sparse and gear & groups are extremely hard to come by. Add to that the faction & travel restrictions of Vanguard and its going to be a mighty lonely place. I don't see how it would work unless the Vanguard Test Regulars all had at least 1 main character on each continent - in other words they'd have to work, grind & level up 3 different characters in order to be able to test anything.

The exceptions to this rule would be test only teleports in many areas, decent dropped gear available on a special vendor and double or triple exp to compensate. I also think requiring the regulars to all be ijn the same guild would have to be almost mandatory or you'd never see guild halls or other guild type perks on the test server.

I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

I was on and off over the weekend and today.. most people I saw I think was around 20. Normally 10 or less...

On the ENTIRE server... spread out all over



The idea of a unit test server is good, but I don't think they need an additional server. It really won't do any harm if people are running around with level 50s on the test server..

ya the most i saw also were about 20 people , i got thinking yes i want to make test my perm server but by golly i hope more people play there!1 , iam not a big fan really of char wipes either , in the end were not paid testers we still have to pay our 15 dollars a month , so someting to show for is in order ie :keeping our chars

if they model after the eq2 test enviroment i believe this server will do just fine. one thing to make the server seem fuller to everyone is make sure they
/joint test if they do that then everyone will have a common channel where we can all talk and enjoy each others company
