Decon Items
I offered some items for decon on test (From my Shidreth toons). I just wanted to make sure they went to people that were actually testing decon, and not to someone that was not seriously testing stuff.
I have a bunch of greens and blues, and a few yellows that I can send from t2-t5. I want to make sure that they go to someone that is seriously testing the decon system. Please reply here with your toon and lv. I know people here are serious about test. I will send what I have to the people that resopnd first. Don't get me wrong, I don't have alot, but I want to give what I have to help test. OK There I stuck my neck out. Bite it. 8-) Kiel (of Shidreth) EDIT: I will be back here 5pm PST 08/02/07 to check the response |

Re: Decon Items
Remember, since anyone can decon now, you can test this out for yourself.
If you don't craft on test the resulting dusts / resources won't do you much good, but you can at least see what works and what doesn't, and I'm sure there will be folks on the /test channel who will take dusts and the like off your hands if you have no use for them.So far I've not had any issues and have deconned a bit of everything, but no higher than T3. I've also only deconned for dusts.

Re: Decon Items
Aye, that part I did understand. My point was to give the stuff to people that understood the decon process and could test it properly with a full understanding of what should be happening. I did not want to just dump the stuff on the broker for 1c/ea.
Offer still stands, but I guess I'll wait till tomorrow to see if any testers want the items. I didn't just want to give them to someone that is just going to abuse the process. |

Re: Decon Items
I think the only real thing you need to test with deconning is to ensure that the Decon Kits give the right sort of reward from each item.
In the case of tier 4 diplomacy gear deconned to dusts it has already been reported that you get tier 1 dusts. |

Re: Decon Items
I see what you mean now Kiel. Thing is, general test players haven't got much more of an idea of how things should work than anyone else, unless we can catch a dev on and ask them point-blank.
In a way, that has advantages - we broke brotherhoods pretty thoroughly last time they were on for testing, despite having no real idea how they worked in detail (who got what, where, when & how); maybe if we'd known more it would have biased the testing, which can be a good or a bad thing. There are a few regulars on Test - if you're looking to offload stuff and don't think you'll be around yourself, you can send things to any of the following: Feinrik (T5 armorsmith), Florinda (T5 mineralogist), Trooli (T5 carpenter), Yvriel (T4 leatherworker, if barely)*, Frerra (T5 tailor), Bograg, Vulo, Flueri, Quisical, Thistletoe, Alderian... I'm forgetting lots of folks, but those are the names that pop to mind on my single cup of coffee. Yvriel is one of mine - all the others are not, unless they're figments of my imagination. All are crafters to whatever level - there are lots of crafters per square foot on test, since we have to make so much stuff ourselves.I'd offer to meet you and act as postmaster for these things if you can't yourself, but my play-availability in the next couple of days is questionable. I caught RL aggro and it's got me on the run.

Re: Decon Items
case in point: I tested the decon with some soulbound (BOP) items, and all the powders were "no sell". That does not make sense to me, so I bugged it.
Anyway, I sent a buch of stuff to the toons you mentioned. I geuss I had a few extra jewlry than I thought. Hvae fun Florinda. Also I noticed that necro grafts can no longer be deconned, for they have no lv? Also saw that the description for items that are too high for a toon to decon says (something like), "That item cannot be deconned". That seems a bit wrong to me, for that item can be deconned just not for one that is too low a lv. Anyway, TY for the names. I hope the systems gets tested well. It is, after all, a huge change for VG. |

Re: Decon Items
Aye, we've been deconning stuff left and right over the last few days. From what I can tell, what you can decon depends on the highest level you have, whether craft or adv (or diplo?). A different failure message would help though, since it's not at all obvious that the reason you can't decon something is because you're not high enough level, if that's the case.
I was leery of this when it went in, and I'm still a little on the fence about it, but there are several positive aspects. I like that anyone can decon anything, though the crafter-client relationship may change a little; adventurers didn't have to bother learning about dusts before if they didn't want to, but now that they're likely going to be the biggest source of dusts rather than the crafters themselves, that balance will change. In itself that's not necessarily a bad thing. I do like that I can decon "on the fly" while adventuring, which keeps my packs a bit cleaner since I used to keep most of the common and crap-uncommon stuff for decon anyway. I'm not certain I see the logic in being able to decon crafting tools but not crafting clothes (or have I just tried the wrong clothes?). There have been a steady stream of results where a tier X item decon gave a dust of tier X+1 (T2 giving T3, T3 giving T4 etc), which seems odd and has been reported. Anyway, for now I'm reserving judgement. Thanks for the deconnables!

Re: Decon Items
As I have heard told, Crafted items and tools should not be deconstructable. If you find a crafted item or tool that can be deconned, please /bug it. There are literally tens of thousands of crafted items in the database, and while we are working very hard to test them, we could still use that second pair of eyes.
