XPS 710: Intel(tm) Core153;2 Extreme QX6700 (8MB L2 Cache,2.66GHz,1066 FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs Dual 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS (Will Probably be upgrading to a 8800 GTX soon) 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Sound Blaster(tm); XtremeMusic (D) Sound Card : XFI I will be looking to get the new Vcard probably after I upgrade to Vista. Also could use suggestions on a sound card as that has never been my forte. As of now though, Vanguard runs like a dream. |

The best sound card I've ever worked with is Razer's Barracuda. I'm not a fan of creative's sound products. They often seem like they're trying to destroy your computer. The Razer is pricey ($200), but it's sweet! The Auzentech Xmystique is a lower-cost alternative. Great card as well, and retails around $60, but it is currently out of stock at the Egg. One thing about not using a creative card, that I feel I should warn you about is that many companies do not support EAX on non-creative cards. This may or may not matter to you.

Re: My XPS 710
Yeah not sure why they had those cards. Thats why I am thinking about getting out of SLI and switching to 8800. Every bench mark I have seen has show that the 8800 will blow away the two cards im using now.
Thanks for the tips about the sound cards. I might go with the less expensive one. Sound is not as important to me as good video quality. |

Re: My XPS 710
Thats why I was asking. I really don't know much about sound cards. If the current one is fine and won't inhibit any of the games features, then I will stick with that. If the one I have is crap, and I can get one that is better without taking a chunk out of my wallet, then great.
Sorry for not explaining myself properly. What's going on in my head versus what it actually comes acrossed as on the forums are generally two differant things. |
