I wonder how much they charged you for that liquid cooling, because they're not putting it to use here.

Also, the E6600 has a 4mb shared cache, not a 2x2 cache. Not sure what they're talking about.

Hopefully, you didn't pay more than $1900 for this.

Re: Dirty's PC

quite right on the 4mb, I'm not sure why they put 2x2.....I mean, 2x2=4 LOL, and if you actually click on the info button, it says 4mb, so can't help ya there......just a goofy way to put it. I just copy/pasted that from the site

what do you mean by the liquid cooling not being put to use? I'm pretty computer literate, but this will be my first experience with liquid cooling. I don't recall exactly, but charge was in the $40 range.

and no, I didn't pay more than $1900 it was in the 1700's somewhere

thanks for the reply, I see a lot of posts from you about the tech stuff, so I appreciate any help.

I knew you did. 4mb shared is better than 2x2, so it was just strange.

The E6600 runs at 2.4ghz normally, so they didn't overclock it at all. It runs peachy keen at 2.8 and maybe even 3.0 (your mileage may vary) on just the stock air cooler. There's no point in exotic cooling if they're not going to overclock something. Given the extra headaches liquid cooling brings, it was very odd that it was included.

$1700 isn't too bad. I've seen similar rigs with $2500+ price tags. I just fear for my follow Nexusers.

I wasn't any help here, really. I just made comments. Like those two guys in the balcony on the Muppet Show.

Re: Dirty's PC

damn, now I'll have those guy's voices in my head all day

the liquid cooling was one of the options to click, and I decided to go for it, cause the a/c in my room goofs, so it's pretty hot during the summer, and I wanted it to be as cool as possible.....even if it is a bit overkill, but $40 for it wasn't killing me, considering the amount I was spending anyway

Also had thoughts on overclocking, so I wanted to have it ready to go in case I do decide to do it.

You might as well. Those things clock so easily, and as long as you don't mess with voltages, you really don't have anything to worry about.

that's what I hear, but that's about as far as my experience goes for overclocking

seen a guide at tomshardware.com, so some day I might get into it.....just would suck to mess it up

Re: Dirty's PC

well it came in, boots up damn quick.....does everything quick. Won't run EQ2 for longer than 2 minutes though

not sure if it's a hardware issue, or software, but after a few minutes of use, it'll toss a blue screen error and just reset. I don't even get a chance to read what the blue screen says. Had it going for an hour or so and it was fine, and then some other times it'll do that every 10 minutes. Not pleased, cause I waited a month for this thing.
