Ok I couldn't help myself. And it wasn't that bad. But I'v built my own in the past but just dislike it anymore. Anyways Got one of the Dell XPS'. One of there reconditioned site. Some are reconditioned and some are ones that are ordered built but not shipes due to one reason or another. I got one of the non shiped versions.... Anyways here are the stats
Ok just ordered this: Name: Banshee Processor: XPS 600 Desktop: Pentium D Processor 940 with Dual Core Technology (3.20GHz, 800FSB) RAM: 1 GB DDR2 NON-ECC SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs) Operating System: Genuine Windows XP Home SP2 Direct X: DX 9 Monitor: HP Pavilion (have had it a while 21'') Graphic Card: 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS Speakers: polk audio that atach to the HP pavilian Hard Drives: 250 GB EIDE SATA II Hard Drive (7200 RPM) CD/DVD/Other Drive (s): A) 16X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability B) 16X DVD ROM Drive C) 128 meg thumb Drive/mp3 player. (use to move stuff from pc to pc) Total: Minus Monitor as its old. 1.3k (reinlistment bonus was just deposited.) I'll more than likely pick up another gig of ram when I see its on sale. A dx 10 Video card about a year from now when all the bugs are worked out. Better speakers. Need a new Optical mouse. last one craped out. Using the roller style that came with it untill later. May put my old Multimedia keyboard back on. The one that came with it is to small. I miss the volume dial already. have to turn it down when mcchris comes on. Defiantly need a new set of headphones for gaming. Old ones finnaly fell apart. Oh yeah if you are thinking about getting an XPS Mine is huge!!! like a closed PoK book. So far I am liking it alot. Old one was giving me alot of problems. Wanted to wait till middle of next year, but I was crashing all the time. It wasn't Software as I had fresh rebooted a few times. May upgrade the os on it to XP and use it specifically as a media center. Rao

I am sorry to say it Rao, but yes you did spend to much on this setup. Not a bad setup, but not worth the money. Throw in an extra Gig of RAM and i could say good deal.

I'd rather just buy a ready made system. Just like I'd rather go to a restraunt than cook. I really dislike keeping up with all the gizmose that go with this type of doodad but won't go with the almost identical whatchamacalit. I know I could have built for cheaper but again would rather buy ready made.
Why the GO? Well Thats what was in( gonna look into this may be a typo) it and I didn't really care about the Video card right now. I'll more than likely upgrade it with in the year so wasn't really a big deal. Part of buying Ready made. Rao

Good processor in there really. RAM is cheap. If its not a GO card you're in good shape really. Just curious what OS were you running on the old box if you're going to upgrade it to XP? Please dont say Win ME, I dont think my eyes could handle that!

I had an HP system with no modifications accept a better video card and it ran beutifully untill the video card went out. So switch back to old Video card and it ran ok for the last six months. But recently It started crashing. I couldnt find anything in the paperwork about it being a go card. Gonna have to open the system up. I'm not really up on whats what with pc guts anymore. I researched all the pieces in this up to a point and didn't come back with anything negative. In fact alot of good reviews on the system. Do go's have dual monitor output? Rao

Honestly I havent ever seen a Go card that wasnt built into the motherboard of a laptop so if its a seperate card you're probably ok.

It is. I still havn't reopend the machine up to look at the card though. Maybe I'll do it tonight.
