Not preferred

Is there any hope that Florendyl will lose the preferred part of it's tag? It's a little disheartening to see people do what ever they wish in /shout or /say and then turn round and says "It's rp preferred"

People who don't want to role play have a wide choice of servers to choose from that don't have the RP tag on it.

(By the way, I'm not talking about casual role players, I'm talking about people who use /say or /shout to talk about the football game, or how X game sucks in comparison to Y game)

That will never go away. A lot of people flock to the Preferred server just to peeve off roleplayers. I, myself, have never found them to be any different then any other server. In fact they normally are more annoying then anything. Sadly I can't get my guildmates that like to RP to realize that. So I get stuck on that type of server every game just about.

I see them as different. RP isn't usually made fun of, and you do find alot of folks who at least play along.

This problem gets alot better as you get into higher levels.

Without a specific RP ruleset and an automated means to enforce it, there is no way to establish a pure RP environment (even if the role players could even agree on what that should be).

If it falls to the CSR staff to enforce the rules, they will end up in the middle of many player-player conflicts that take a huge amount of time to investigate and handle. Not to mention the question of who would monitor the hundreds of public chat channels and what would they do if people break character on them.

By labeling the server as preferred, they get around that. All they have done is help the role players congregate on a single server where a community can grow.

I was refering to SwordMage's Post about CSR. And the lack of it resulting in OOC and shout channles getting fobed with inane chatter about everyday crap instead of RP. I usually turn them off anyway or est to a background chat window.

Actually I would like to see OCC and shout disabled. If people want to BS they can go to a specified chat channle.
